With the shocking news of Chinese researcher He Jiankui using CRISPR to edit human genes, a debate rose on the internet (in China and around the world) and paranoia around the gene-editing technology ensued. This episode of Loud Murmurs centers around a 1997 sci-fi film, "Gattaca" -- a movie that depicts a dystopian society driven by eugenics, where potential children are conceived through genetic selection to have their parents' best hereditary traits.
