In this episode, we practice a breathing technique invented by 26-Time World Record Holder, Wim Hof, known as The Wim Hof Method, and follow this with a guided meditation. Wim's method has been shown in scientific study of its effects, to decrease inflammation, fight disease, and encourage the release of beneficial hormones, as well as the chemical compound DMT, a very intriguing side-note. DMT, or dimethyltryptamine, is known to occur naturally in our own bodies, as well as many plants. It has been shown to be released in larger amounts in the body during dream-time, as well as during the birth and death experience. In recent studies, DMT has been found to be constantly active in our brains in quantities as high as serotonin, and as such is now theorized to be central to our experience of conscious awareness.
