You may be familiar with Moore’s Law of Computing: Moore's Law refers to Moore's perception that the number of transistors on a microchip doubles every two years, though the cost of computers is halved. Moore's Law states that we can expect the speed and capability of our computers to increase every couple of years, and we will pay less for them. I was there at the birth of the personal computer revolution. In the first few years this law was amazingly accurate. My first IBM PC was an upgraded version. It had a color monitor, although no one really had a use for color yet and there were no graphics - only ASCII characters. And I had two floppy disk drives. That means I could put the floppy for the program in one drive and save the data to the other.
