Joseph McLemore Sr., Owner/Operator of Joe’s Barbershop“52” Years of traveling behind the ChairJoseph McLemore Sr. was born in Rock Island, Illinois and is one of (20) children.Growing up poor made him crave for a better life for himself and his family. He started working at the age of 14 as a dishwasher at the Blackhawk Hotel, and Bishops before going to Barber College. In 1966 he decided to attend the “Davenport Barber College”, and in 1968 he opened his first barber shop. Fifty-two years later he is still there, thanks to the almighty, a loving family and caring wife, it would not have been possible. Joe prides himself on being the first full-time African American Barber in the Quad Cities (QC). January 18, 2018 was his 50 year anniversary. Joe believes the key to a successful business is offering great customer service, which includes dependability, social skills and understanding, but most important is providing a quality product, “The Best Haircut in the Quad-Cities”.Joe has been married for 56 years
