On July 21, 1930, an expedition set out from Alice Springs, NT, equipped with jeeps, camels and aircraft (a new invention at the time), in search of a gold haul long enough to set up the team and their patrons for the rest of their lives. The man leading the expedition claimed to have found the gold years prior, and remembered the way. A few months later, however, the expedition returned without the guide, cranky and annoyed.
