Supreme Court To Hear Concealed Carry CaseThe Supreme Court announced that in its upcoming term it will decide a core gun rights issue: Whether the Second Amendment requires states to give permits to law-abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons. The case they've taken up is: New York Rifle & Pistol Association (NYRPA) v. Corlett. New York state does not recognize "self-defense" as a good enough reason to grant law-abiding citizens a concealed carry permit. NYRPA will argue that the state's position violates the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The last time the Supreme Court ruled on the Second Amendment started in 2008 in the landmark District of Columbia v. Heller which established that the Second Amendment guarantees private citizen's right to keep a firearm. And in a follow-up case in 2010 the court established that our 2A right applies
