Shipping & The Environment Shipping is the most environmentally friendly mode of transportation and the industry has been highly proactive in its efforts to comply with a series of environmental regulations ranging from ballast water treatment, to low sulfur fuels and greenhouse emissions. What is the best way to achieve the decarbonization targets by 2030 or 2050 which is the next frontier? At present there are several proposals on the table for discussion at the IMO.
