(The completely positive experience I had as 'marrying maiden' was somewhat unexpected, too.) changing to

‘What kind of person am I becoming?’

An enthusiastic transition
13/07/2023 Duración: 42minEpisode 33 of the I Ching with Clarity podcast features a listener's reading about moving to a new country. How best to make a positive transition to this new place, wherever it may be? The Oracle answered with Hexagram 16, Enthusiasm, changing at line 2 to Hexagram 40, Release: changing to This is actually the same reading we had in a previous episode last December, when I asked about the characteristics of a good question. I'm hoping it will still be interesting to see how different aspects of the reading are highlighted in response to this different question. The second reading, which we run through very quickly at the end, is Hexagram 22, Beauty, with lines 1, 2 and 3 changing to 4, Not Knowing - changing to During this episode I mentioned the Connecting With Imagery course that's part of the Change Circle Library. You can read more about Change Circle here.

Where to go?

I hope you enjoy listening - and if you'd like to share a reading of your own on the podcast, you can book that here.

The Inner Truth of Waiting
11/05/2023 Duración: 34minIn this episode, Katie - a psychotherapist in training - asks, "What do I most need to know right now?" Behind this question lies a worry that she ought to be doing more, or achieving faster or maybe starting a side business: she was wondering, she said, whether she ought to be active or passive. Yi responded with Hexagram 61, Inner Truth, changing at lines 3 and 6 to Hexagram 5, Waiting: changing to Yi, I think, took the whole idea of being active and making things happen and turned it neatly on its head for her. How does it sound to you? In this episode, I also introduce the Reading Navigation class. If you'd like to join Change Circle so you can be part of that, you can sign up here.

Trust and Hexagram 30
12/01/2023 Duración: 36minIn this 27th episode of the I Ching with Clarity podcast, Anita shares a reading about trusting her new relationship. She received Hexagram 30, Clarity, with no changing lines - the hexagram made by doubling the trigram li, fire and light: 'Unchangingness' can colour a hexagram's meaning in interesting ways - in our conversation, I mentioned this I Ching Community thread about Hexagram 30 unchanging. For comparison... back in episode 14, Sasha and I talked about another relationship reading: Hexagram 29, Repeating Chasms, the exact opposite of 30, also with no changing lines. Seeking union and belonging
08/09/2022 Duración: 49minA listener's reading for this episode of the I Ching with Clarity podcast: Vidia asked, 'How can I move forward and be of service?' Yi answered with Hexagram 8, Seeking Union, with no changing lines - a beautifully simple answer that gave us the opportunity for a deep dive into its imagery and stories. Mentioned during our conversation… The name of the hexagram, bi, with its two human figures walking close together: Bi, name of Hexagram 8 Rilke on living the questions: …I would like to beg you dear Sir, as well as I can, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.from Letters

Troll Story
11/08/2022 Duración: 24minIn which you will encounter hesitation, second-guessing, repetitious readings, decision, 'contradictory' moving lines (what do you do with those?), a good dose of common sense and a particularly persistent troll. Also these readings... Hexagram 18, Corruption, changing at line 3 to 4, Not Knowing: changing to Hexagram 49, Radical Change, changing at lines 2, 3 and 5 to 54, the Marrying Maiden: changing to Hexagram 6, Arguing, changing at lines 5 and 6 to 40, Release: changing to And finally, Hexagram 45, Gathering, changing at line 2 to Hexagram 47, Confined: changing to Listen for the full story - I hope you enjoy it! Obviously with that many readings, this is more of a canter through, not a deep dive into any of them. Is this useful/ interesting, or do you prefer the episodes with just one reading? (If you'd like to discuss your own reading on the podcast - it's free! - book yourself a slot here.)

Finding meaning
14/07/2022 Duración: 43minSergio asked a big question for this podcast reading: how to deal with his sense that his life lacked meaning. Yi's response was quite a modest, domestic one: Hexagram 37, People in the Home, changing at the fifth line to 22, Beauty: changing to 'With the king's presence, there is a home.Do not worry. Good fortune.'Hexagram 37, line 5 Perhaps it's as simple as that...

Creating a home
09/06/2022 Duración: 22minThis podcast has a reading of my own, about creating a home. Yi answered with Hexagram 53, Gradual Progress, changing at line 5 to Hexagram 52, Stilling: changing to If you'd like to discuss a reading with me for a future episode (it's free, as a 'thank you' for sharing), please book here! In this one, I spend some time discussing the 'nuclear story' of the moving lines - how you can find four component trigrams in a hexagram, and the hexagrams they create. Here they are (because this is a lot easier to follow when you can see it): I cast this hexagram - and by taking groups of consecutive lines, you can find four trigrams inside it: - lines 1-2-3, 2-3-4, 3-4-5 and 4-5-6. So extract each of those trigrams, with the moving line included... …and combine them into hexagrams. Each hexagram's made from two overlapping trigrams: 39, Limping 64, Not Yet Crossing 37, People in the Home And there you have the three nuclear hexagrams I talk about in the

Portrait of a relationship
12/05/2022 Duración: 49minA reading for an I Ching Community member, Honey, aka MeltingPot247, with four moving lines full of darkness and warnings - What do I need to know about this relationship as it is now? The answer: Hexagram 32, Lasting, changing at lines 1, 3 4 and 6 to 41, Decrease. changing to There's a lot to listen to, here: how Honey's experiencing the tension between the two hexagrams, the realities of Lasting and her need for Decrease; how she recognises each moving line (especially line 6, which was much clearer to her than it was to me!); how the Steps of Change help her to 'find herself' at each stage; how an overall picture comes together. In the reading, I mention the Chinese characters for the names of the two hexagrams. You can see them both and read more about them at LiSe Heyboer's website: Heng, Lasting and Sun, Decrease. And if you'd like more information about Change Circle, Clarity's core membership, here you go.
