Harvest: Greg Laurie Audio

There’s a famous poem about defiant independence featuring phrases like “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.” The Lord probably finds that poem pretty funny. The Bible says the earth is God’s footstool. And He hears a wee, little voice say I am the captain of my soul. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie brings us a fresh perspective from Jacob’s attempt to wrestle with God. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. The first known excuse in human history is found in Genesis with Adam. We all have excuses for doing, or not doing, something. But Pastor Greg points out that underneath it all is simply, “I don’t want to.” What excuses are you handing God? — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. God gave us free will. And what a risky gift that is. Sure, it’s fine when the biggest choice is coffee or tea . . . sneakers or sandals. But what happens when our will collides with God’s will? Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie takes on the danger of saying, “Thanks, God, but I’ve got this.” He’ll walk us through the story of an Old Testament character who wanted things his way, in his timing . . . and even wrestled with God. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. Sin can have lethal consequences! God had a rescue plan from the very beginning, but that plan required His Son to give His own life so that we could live. Jesus’ death wasn’t a good plan gone bad . . . it was God’s perfect plan to redeem imperfect man. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie shows us how the plan of Redemption is the ultimately example of God’s love and providence for His children . . . a love that protects His children. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. Ever walk up to an order counter and not a soul pays attention to you? You clear your throat . . . you utter a polite “excuse me” . . . nothing. Some people think they get the same response when they call on God. Silence. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that God hears our prayers, He cares about our needs, and He never stops working on our behalf. Even when it seems like nothing’s happening, something’s happening. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. Ever searched YouTube for how-to help and found some guy fixing a leaky faucet with nothing but a sock and a taco shell? Somehow, it worked, and you watched the whole thing. Why? Because we learn by watching someone else do it first. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie explains it’s the same with the Christian life. We help people find Jesus, and show them how to follow Him. Think of this as your spiritual “how-to” video… no taco shell required. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. The number one reason believers don’t share their faith is fear: “What if I offend that person? What if it changes the relationship?” Would we be concerned about that if their home was on fire and they were in danger? Well, the Gospel saves people from a very real eternal danger. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us see how Jesus Himself directed us to spread the word far and wide. Someone’s eternity could literally hang in the balance if we don’t. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. There are things that own us—whether obviously or silently. Fears, discontentment, the opinions of others… But Jesus reminds us that God is the One who should own our lives. Jesus was arrested and subject to unjust trials before the Jewish leaders and Roman governor Pilate. Though found innocent, He was sentenced to death to appease the crowd. Jesus was scourged, mocked, and forced to carry His cross to Golgotha. There, He was crucified between two criminals, ultimately dying to pay the penalty for our sin. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie shows us it all began with betrayal ... by one of His own disciples. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. We’ve all heard the phrase, “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” Someone who seems harmless and pleasant, maybe even trustworthy, but who really is a hidden danger. These kind of people can be anywhere – classmates, co-workers, church members. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us understand these people, and be on our guard. We’ll consider one such individual who wound up in the Lord’s inner circle. Ever look at a puzzle piece and try to guess the whole picture? It’s nearly impossible, until you step back and see the top of the box. So it is with life. Some people treat prayer like it’s a game of chance. Like Bingo. It’s not up to luck, it’s up to the Lord . . . the Lord who loves us, and cares for us, and told us to keep asking, keep seeking and keep knocking. Some people don’t understand the logic of faith. Believers put their trust in a God who parted the Red Sea, raised the dead, healed the sick, calm ed the storm, walked on water . . . and created the heavens and the earth. Doesn’t it make sense to trust a God like that? Does it make sense not to. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie brings a story about a woman who had faith that just wouldn’t quit. It’s inspiring insight for those times when we’re ready to throw in the towel. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. The Bible teaches us how to think and how to behave. And we see it demonstrated in the lives of the heroes of our faith. They were people of commitment, and people of action. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us focus on one particular biblical action figure to see the steps that lead to spiritual failure . . . so we can avoid them! They say Thomas Edison failed ten thousand times to make a viable electric light bulb. When asked about all those strikeouts, Edison would reportedly say, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us explore the failure of a certain apostle. He did the unthinkable, but we’ll see the Lord responded with the unexpected. Spiritual failure came face to face with divine mercy. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years.
