In week 6 of the series “Startled by Grace” we heard a powerful story from our dear friends Grant and Christina Marshall. They did an incredible job sharing how the Lord brought them comfort and joy in the midst of hardship and loss. We hope you are encouraged by this story of God’s Grace!

In week 5 of the series “Startled by Grace” we discuss living in and enjoying daily grace. Being startled by grace is waking up everyday to the good news that God’s never-ending grace offers us. He wants to join us on our journeys and provide grace, but it often (always) requires us to step out in faith.

As we continue in our series “Startled by Grace” we will have several members of our church family share their personal stories of grace. This week our friend Manuel Bento shared about God’s love and grace in his personal life in Mozambique, and through the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus. We hope you are encouraged by this story of God’s Grace!

In week three of the series “Startled by Grace” we look at how God’s grace brings us resurrection life in Christ. He invites us to worship Him and enter into the adventure of life with Him, and when we receive that gift of life, we are able to pour His grace out to others.

In week two of the series “Startled by Grace” we explore the importance of having a full picture of the gospel of grace, and the massive role that humility plays in experiencing the grace of God in our lives. While it is tempting to only think about the joy and peace that comes with the gift of grace, it is important to remember the real impact that sin and death have. If we can keep these real and damaging consequences in mind, we can fully share the depth of the importance of the gift of grace, and how it should be a part of our daily walk.

Week one of the series “Startled by Grace” is a reminder of the overwhelming compassion and love that our creator has for us, and through a familiar story, we see the first demonstration of God’s grace in Scripture. Often we are so quick to become numb to the most awe-inspiring things around us: the mountains, a sunset, and the face of a child. Just as we can become calloused to those incredible things, if we aren’t careful, we can also forget how incredibly awesome the grace of God is.

Entering the Holy Week, we discussed the story of Jesus cursing the fig tree on his way into Jerusalem. At first glance, this story seems odd and unrelated to our everyday lives. However, upon further investigation, we can see (as we always do) that He is teaching us even in this interaction how we are to be engaged and active in our own lives to bear fruit.

Concluding our series “Just Give,” we are reminded that Jesus calls us to give Him our talents, so we can learn to love and serve others with them. We are often tempted to think that we are insufficient and don’t have what it takes, but Jesus reminds us that all we need is willingness, and he will fill in the places we may think are lacking.

In week 6 of the series “Just Give,” Pastor Jake discusses the importance of being generous with our time. By examining Jesus’ life we are able to see that some of the most important moments for eternity can come when we are willing to slow down and be open to the people and situations that God brings into our path.

In week five of our series on giving we discuss the topic of “Stewarding our Time.” Our time is a gift from God, and a finite resource of this life. If we are not intentional about how we spend it, we can squander the limited amount that we have. God calls us be thoughtful and purposeful in allocating our time towards the things that are eternal and not the fleeting busyness of this world.

In week four of our series on giving we discuss the topic of “Stewarding our Treasure.” God has called us to steward all He has given us with faithfulness and wisdom. In this message, we discuss the importance of making the decision to live as a steward, and then managing that decision everyday by obeying Jesus, and learning all the wisdom God has to share about managing our finances and possessions well.

Week three of “Just Give” is about "the tithe." Tithing is discussed throughout scripture, and consistantly we are shown that God is not interested in our money, but in our hearts. Giving is not about God’s need for our money, but about our need for God to be allowed into every aspect of our lives.

As we continue to discuss the topic of giving, this week we turn our hearts and minds to the topic of stewardship. Remembering that everything in this life is a gift from God, we are given the freedom to invest all that we have towards our heavenly future.

In week one of the series, Just Give, we learn that God is a giver. Giving can be one of the most difficult topics in the church to discuss, but once we are able to adjust our thinking and give for the right reasons, God can use our resources to accomplish amazing things including healing our selfish hearts.

In the final week of the Welcome Home series, we discussed why membership is an important part of being part of a church family, and what being a member of Grace Chapel Knoxville looks like and means.

In week three of the “Welcome Home” series, Pastor Jake gave his State of the Church address. It was a time of reflecting on the past year and looking forward to the things that God is bringing for GCK in 2018.

Today we are wrapping up the “I AM” series where we have been exploring the identity & mission of Jesus through the eyes of the apostle John. In this week’s sermon we reflect on Jesus as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. If we will choose to make Him our King it will lead to an abundant and eternal life. However, if we aren’t careful, we can become like the church in Laodicea. We can find ourselves leading a bland and empty life when we settle for anything less than a real, vibrant relationship with the only One who holds all the keys.

In week 7 of this series on the mission and identity of Christ, Pastor Jake teaches on the role of Jesus as The Door. Anyone who will enter by him is welcome, and when Jesus invites you into his kingdom, there is ultimate protection and glorious freedom.
