Victory Hands was born in the summer of 2014, when bass player Jimmy Ether convened with Haricot Vert alumni drummer Kip Thomas and guitarist Shawn Christopher to write songs built around lyrics pulled from redacted Richard Nixon tapes and speeches. The group recently stopped by CL’s Short Notice studio talk about the parallels they’ve discovered between President Nixon and President Trump’s tactics and strategies, writing new songs, and what’s in store for 2020.

Imagine Music Festival returns for the 6th annual Aquatic Fairytale at Atlanta Motor Speedway Sept. 19-22, bringing a weekend-long EDM extravaganza under the sun and stars. This year’s lineup features performances by DIPLO, Marshmello, Alison Wonderland, Leah Culver, and more playing amid a scene that includes a pool, circus acts, yoga, camping, and various other activities. The Southern Surf Stomp Fest returns to Little Tree Art Studios in Avondale Estates on Saturday, September 21, with a day filled with pure kerrang and science fiction-fueled rock ‘n’ roll. The festivities begin the night before, (Sept. 20) with a Friday night pre-party at Trader Vic’s in the Hilton Hotel Downtown. The Disasternauts, the Manakooras (feat. Jeremy DeHart formerly of the Aqualads), and DJ Big Tiki Dude set the weekend in motion. Saturday’s festival lineup features performances by The Madeira from Indianapolis, Insect Surfers from Los Angeles (celebrating the group's 40th anniversary), Surfer Joe from Livorno, Italy), the Flamethrowers from Athens, the Intoxicators from Tallahassee, alongside hometown heroes Fiend Without A Face (feat. Clarice Jensen, the composer, cellist, and Artistic Director with the Brooklyn-based ACME — that’s the American Contemporary Music Ensemble — has a new cassette release out via Geographic North, titled Drone Studies. The two pieces that make up this release, titled “The Organ that Made You Bleed” and “One Bee” show off an improvisational and naturally expressive tonal exploration that veers away from the compositional works she’s created with ACME, and via collaborations with artists such as Jóhann Jóhannsson, Max Richter, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Dustin O’halloran, Stars of the Lid, and more. Uber for weed? That's what co-founders of Care by Delivery have accomplished in San Diego. Amy Koed and Vincent Owens are bringing their cannabis delivery service to Atlanta. The laws are changing, Georgia. Gwinnett and Cobb County announced they will no longer prosecute for minor marijuana possession. What exactly does that mean? This episode of "Friends in High Places" gives us the facts. Criminal Defense Attorney Ashley McMahan is an Atlanta native. With experience as a prosecutor, she opened her own defense firm, The Law Ladies, and has since defended countless Georgians unfairly, or wrongly charged with marijuana cases.

Since 2004, David Landis has worked from his sculpture studio at 97 Georgia Avenue in the burgeoning Summerhill neighborhood. Landis is perhaps best known for his casting work, turning out large scale, publicly commissioned and smaller private pieces. His works can be seen everywhere from the Eastside Atlanta BeltLine trail to the Pierre Baudis Convention Center in Toulouse, France.
