In this episode, graduate students from a summer Capstone and Contemporary Issues in Physical Education class at Canisius College have been invited to join Drs. Ramsey and Seymour.  Students in this combined course are graduate teacher candidates on the verge of student-teaching, aspiring physical educators, or newly inducted teachers into the profession themselves.  Students are asked to review journal articles ahead of time to discuss accordingly.  Ms. Colleen Corsi, Executive Director of NYS AHPERD, has also joined the session.The article the group discusses is entitled A Professional Legacy Is a Journey: What Path Will You Travel?Seymour, C. Hosted by Dr. Clancy Seymour (NYS AHPERD President) and Dr. Victor Ramsey (NYS AHPERD Equity, Diversity & Inclusiveness Section Past President)During our time together, participants will come to understand how we can hold egalitarian values while simultaneously creating policies and practices that do not reconcile with those egalitarian views and how they can lead to inequitable and disparate outcomes. As we think about and create policies, practices and procedures that are related to "equity, diversity and inclusivity", it's important that we each first do introspective and reflective work. If not, we can actually deepen and widen the gaps that we are working and striving to close.
