This week's teacher feature award goes to Marc Allen from Woods Cross High School. Mr Allen tries to listen to each student individually. When faced with a student who ran into problems with drugs and alcohol, Mr. Allen pushed the student into finishing high school. After receiving the award in front of the whole school and being apprehensive to accept it, he said he doesn't teach to get awards. His wife who also works at the school was mentioned as well. They make up a great team at the school. Mr. Bolen and his wife are willing to go above and beyond for the sake of their students. A decision that is not all that common. Mrs Smith just believes that the money isn't what it's all about. This week's teacher feature award goes to Ley Kou a teacher at Southland Elementary in Riverton. Nominated by a parent who's had multiple students in Ms. Kou's classes over the years. Ms. Kou goes above and beyond, even bringing food to the family home of the students when she found out a couple of the students were sick. She says the recognition from the parents is the best reward she could possibly get. This week's teacher feature award goes to Shaynie Wayman a special ed teacher from Oquirrah Elementary. She worked tirelessly to catch one of the students up to speed. When the students' parents became homeless, they had to move the student to a new school. Mrs. Wayman helped personally with the transition of the student to a new school and a new teacher. She also kept in touch long after the student had been out of the previous school. This week's teacher feature award goes to Glen Carpenter a drama teacher at Stansbury High. He gave up an accounting career to teach, and many students feel like they have a safe haven in Mr. Carpenter's classroom. He says that drama helps kids be better students, it helps them get higher test scores, and it helps them use every ounce of their brain. He has been commended by the principal for being able to pull the best out of the students. And he coaches drama students to state championships. This week's teacher feature award goes to Stephen a 5th grade teacher at Settlement Canyon Elementary in Tooele. It's been a rough year for Mr. Warner after being diagnosed with cancer. Despite taking time off for his treatments, he still showed up to the school every day to see his students. He says that if you find a job doing what you love, you'll never work a day in your life. He never feels like he is working. He has a drive despite the adversity and you'd never know he was even sick. He was nominated by a parent because of his great teaching skills as well as his dedication to the Technology Student Association. He gives so many hours to the program because they are building real skills for the workplace students will later be in. This week's teacher feature award goes to Keriann Moore of Doxey Elementary in Sunset. She is actually not a teacher, she is one of the schools' secretaries. She was nominated because she regularly helps a student test his diabetes on a daily basis. She went out of her way to learn how to give insulin shots, and the shots and the needles scared her to death at first. And especially because the student is just a first grader. But she says that it's life and death, and she just loves the kids so she's happy to help. Denise is in charge of over 5000 students learning science, teaches 6 classes a day with 36 students in each class. This week's teacher feature award goes to Lisa Garland of Northwest Middle School. When her husband became disabled, she took on the family's financial burden while giving as much energy as possible to her students. Her daughter nominated her for her positive attitude that is addictive. The students trust her and she is able to build relationships with her students. Logan Garland says in the nomination letter that "her love for her students and enthusiasm for their success makes her students feel good about themselves and pushes them to do their best. Every school she has worked at has sang her praises!" The letter goes on to say "Lisa is the most selfless, caring, charitable, and loving person I know. Rocky Lambourne the Principle at Bonneville Jr High, was nominated by a former student when he was a teacher at Skyline High School over 20 years ago. The anonymous former student claimed he was not a very good student and felt like he "needed to break him in". "Within five minutes of being in his class, I had disrupted, annoyed, and then finally threw (and hit him) with a wadded up piece of paper. I knew he was going to unleash the dogs on me, and he did." He goes on to say that the next day it surprised him because "He just wanted to get to know me, which was weird. We hit it off right away, and by the end of the conversation, he had offered me a job mowing lawns with his Lawn Care crew that he ran after school to make ends meet. I accepted." "If there was ever a teacher who deserved to be recognized, it’s Rocky Lambourne; a man who has devoted his entire life to being a friend, helping others, coaching, teaching, leading, and being a champion for those kids who couldn’t do it on their own."  Mr. Lambourne

Tammy Lawrence, a 5th grade teacher at Syracuse Arts Academy, can always make her students smile, she even make math fun. Quite the challenge indeed. Mrs Lawrence "has treated every student fairly by including everyone into everything. Whenever we did class activities, she would always look around the room and check to see if everyone was included. If you weren’t included in school activities, she would talk to you after the school day was over and she would take time out of her day to find ways to fix it." says Lila Wilson and Aiden Pullam, students of Mrs Lawrence. This week's teacher feature award goes to Bobby Eddy a 6th grade english teacher at Morgan Middle School in Morgan Utah. She was nominated by a thankful parent who was so appreciative of how well Mrs. Eddy teaches her child while also keeping the parent at the forefront of learning. In a letter the parent writes "She is a great teacher with my student and does a wonderful job communicating to me, as a parent. Communication is so important to me especially since my student is the oldest and the "trailblazer" for my other children." The letter goes on to say "Mrs. Eddy doesn't let her health problems control her. She is always concerned for her students and their success. They are number one to her and it shows in the little things that she does for them." This week's teacher feature award goes to Andrew Lovell at West Side Elementary in Springville. His wife nominated him after an anniversary trip they planned to take to Uganda. Mr Lovell decided to make it meaningful to his students. While he was there, him and his students raised over $4,000 to help build a library. His wife says "He took pictures, used Facebook Live, and took videos so that he was able to show students the impact of their project from beginning to end." She goes on to say, "He lives and teaches by the following motto, 'People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care'. His students not only know that but they feel that."
