KSL NewsRadio's Teacher Feature recognizes outstanding teachers in the Utah community. Each teacher is presented each week by a different KSL NewsRadio personality who talks about how they make a difference in the lives of the children they teach. Each winning teacher is honored with a plaque from Zions Bank, an overnight stay at Anniversary Inn, a gift certificate for dinner at the beautiful Roof Restaurant at Temple Square and a pair of season tickets from Hale Centre Theater!All winners are also invited to attend an end-of-year banquet at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in their honor. In addition, one lucky teacher will win the grand prize 2-year lease on a new car courtesy of Burt Brothers Tire and Service.A panel of judges from Zions Bank, the State Office of Education, and KSL NewsRadio judge the hundreds of nominating letters.     Jacqueline Wedick, a teacher at Wasatch Elementary School, "embraces the weird and makes it cool. She embraces diversity and makes it acceptable. She will break into foreign accents halfway through class to liven it up, and is never afraid to make a fool of herself for the sake of education" writes Kristy Sevy, mother of Kenzie, a student of Miss Wedick's. Kristy goes on to say that "Miss Wedick has been my daughter's teacher for two years now (my daughter Kenzie is convinced Mrs. Wedick loved her so much that she moved from 2nd grade to 3rd). How many parents can say that for two years straight their child has never come home to talk about bullying or teasing? When I have asked my daughter about teasing she always responds the same: "Miss Wedick's class just isn't like that, we are all friends."   • Rick Lilly - Clearfield High School

    Rick Lilly, a teacher at Clearfield High School "stands out as one of the most influential" writes Kylie Boyack, a student of Mr. Lilly's. "My fellow classmates and other teachers would agree. He cares deeply for all his students and wants them to be successful. During this school year, I went through one of the most trying times in my life. I was struggling in school and with life but Mr. Lilly always made sure that I was okay and was willing to help me with anything. He taught me to accept difficulties and make the best of them." Boyack goes on to say that "beyond school, he is another inspiration in and of itself. He has had almost as many medical issues and surgeries as he the number of years old he is, including but not limited to two kidney transplants and two strokes. Medical issues aren’t easy to overcome but Mr. Lilly acts as if they aren’t even there and he is extremely positive about life.
