#CFAF67 — It Was All A Dreamvillefest
08/04/2019 Duración: 01h34minJ. Cole is a ICON; in music and in North Carolina especially. I had the pleasure of attending the largest Hip Hop event NC has ever seen. The fact that it was thrown by one of it's own is unbelievable. I'm a 43 year old man from Raleigh. If someone had asked me if this was possible when I was 16, I would've responded with a resounding hell no! But here we are. And it's amazing. We talked about it all on this ep. From beginning to end. We gave Dreamvillefest all the praise it deserves. The performances, the vibes, the meaning to the city and the state, what it means to us; we cover it all. Hope you enjoy it! And make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF Bonus Episode — US The Movie
01/04/2019 Duración: 01h15minWe couldn't help y'all. And this movie deserved it. So we discussed the Jordan Peele movie Us this week. Even though we DID fit Hip Hop into this conversation, consider this episode a bonus. I'm not gonna kill you with the spoiler alerts in the description. There's enough of those during the episode lol. If you haven't seen Us yet you may not want to listen quite yet. But hey...You're going to have to see this movie more than once anyway so what difference does it make? With that being said, enjoy the episode and make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF66 — The Origins of Backpack Hip Hop
01/04/2019 Duración: 44minWhat started as a stylish Bboy accessory ended up being a full fledged sub-genre in Hip Hop; a word synonymous with underground. Backpack...I won't go into great detail in the description. Just know we paid just due to the ones that brought the knapsack to the game. And how the game, ; as Hip Hop often does, morphed it into something totally different. Enjoy the episode and make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF65 — Favorites For A Few
18/03/2019 Duración: 01h44minWha't good Few Tang? I'm not even gonna try and go in depth on what we talked about in this episode. What I will do is explain our intent. In the effort to allow you all to get to know us better, we decided to ask each other off the cuff questions about each other's "Hip Hop favorites". This convo covers a little of everything and goes a little everywhere. But we enjoyed it and hopefully you will too. Even more, we hope this episode helps you understand us as life-long Hip Hop fans. #CFAF64 — Is Sampling Theft or Art?
13/03/2019 Duración: 01h01minImagine Hip Hop without sampling; without the loop from Chic's "Good Times" as the soundscape to "Rapper's Delight". I don't know about you, but my mind can't even work out or imagine those thoughts. Artists and producers have been sued, criticized and ridiculed for sampling; mostly by people that don't understand or are not of the culture. However, even inside the culture of Hip Hop there are differences of opinion on sampling and its validity. For example, there are those of us that reward the Just Blazes of the world and shame the Puff Daddys. Aren't they both sampling? So what makes a Hip Hop purist look at them differently? Maybe it's not that they sample but HOW they do it. There are tons of hairs to split on this topic and we take aim at them all. This show gets deep. Deep as the mind of the abyss. Now how many emcees must get dissed? I couldn't help myself lol. Enjoy the show and make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF63 — I Swear Sports And Music Are So Synonymous
05/03/2019 Duración: 01h22minIf you're of a certain age and/or era it's hard to imagine Hip Hop without sports. There's a clear demarkation in time where Hip Hop and sports became inseparable to the visible public. In this episode we stumble on a deeper relationship between the two. 2Chainz "hiring" Lebron James to A&R his latest project, Rap Or Go To The League, coupled with an ESPN press run spawned a long overdue conversation. We started with Chainz but of course we broadened the topic to the relationship between sports and Hip Hop overall and over time. There's SO MUCH in this episode. I think we were pretty efficient though. We cover rapping ball players, ball playing rappers, Allen Iverson's impact, Rucker Park and a bunch more. Oh! Shout out to our guests on the episode. Check out Capri, "Nights In Tokyo" on all streaming platforms. And be on alert for @SelfMadeNuski, "Born Star" dropping 4/20/19. Preciate y'all for coming through and joining the talk.Yo Few Tang, hope y'all enjoy it as much as we did. Make room for the tag...

#CFAF62 — The Hip Hop Pipeline to Private Prison
25/02/2019 Duración: 01h05sDoes 12 have it out for rappers? Did the music industry use Hip Hop to conspire against its creators? Does the most present narrative in Hip Hop lead its listeners astray? Are today's artists making it too easy for the police? Are being young and stupid good enough excuses for the influx of rapper arrests? If yes is the answer to any of those questions, did we, "Hip Hop", bring this on ourselves? If so, how? I know. I know. Lots of questions this go' round. Any way, we answered all these questions and more during this convo. Enjoy and make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF61 — Did The Grammys Get It Right?
18/02/2019 Duración: 01h12minWhat up Few Tang Clan! Through boycotts, snubs and receiving awards off camera before the show even starts; we still celebrate winning a Grammy. The award still holds just as much weight today as it did 40 or 50 years ago. And because the Grammys matter we must discuss the winners and losers. This year was interesting for a lot of reasons. I'm sure a few (pun intended) of our takes will raise an eyebrow or two. We chop it up about Childish Gambino and whether he deserves his award and why maybe it should have come with an asterisk. Of course we get into why we think Cardi B won Rap Album of the Year. There's tons more on this episode. You KNOW our convos go deeper than the usual. #CFAF60 — The Industry Plant Theory
12/02/2019 Duración: 52minChance the Rapper, Russ, Young Dolph, Blueface...What do these rappers have in common? Each of them has been rumored to be an Industry Plant. Exactly what IS an Industry Plant you might ask. Well no one knows exactly but on this episode we OUR definition. We also speak about the false narrative of independence of the young artist. Our belief is it all created by the record labels. We hope we're wrong. However, we KNOW the music industry relies on the excitement and ignorance of young talent. But like I said; I hope we're wrong. Enjoy the show! And make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF59 — Tory Lanez vs The World; And Don Q
12/02/2019 Duración: 48minRap battles sure have changed! Tory challenged everyone in Hip Hop to a battle and a few New York emcees accepted the challenge. Mysonne, J.R. Writer and yes, Don Q. Not particularly the line up we might've expected but it is what it is. From all of this we got at least one official squabble. Tory and Don Q had a pretty intense back and forth; especially because their "friends". Like I said, rap battles sure have changed...It's us. So you can guarantee this lead to a more global Hip Hop conversation. We take some time to discuss the components of the battle nowadays. It's hilariously different than a rap battle in 2000 or 1990. With that being said, one thing we're happy still exist in these battles are BARS. No we're not in the era of Jadakiss and Styles going at Beanie Sigel. But hey! We've got our memories; and YouTube to refresh them lol. Enjoy the show! And make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF58 — A Boogie, Soulja Boy and Da Baby; Leaders of the New?
03/02/2019 Duración: 01h06minThis week's episode is a 3 parter! We chop it up about A Boogie's number one album with LESS than 900 physical sold. We show Da Baby, a dope emcee from Charlotte some love. Bruh and his South Coast Music group are out here making major moves. And we shine a little light on Soulja Boy and his record-less roll out. Bruh sho can get some attention can't he lol. Of course this ain't a gossipy episode. So expect us to tie conversations about these 3 guys to a more broad convo about Hip Hop. I can't even front. This was a fun one. Hope y'all enjoy listening to it as much as we did recording it! Make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF Bonus Episode — The Signing Frenzy
03/02/2019 Duración: 37minFull disclosure and transparency...This is a bit of a lost episode. We recorded it a little while ago BUT because of the way we do our show, the content is still relevant. These are conversations about Hip Hop. We aren't following trendy topics, gossip or so-called "news". We chop it up about more "global" issue concerning the culture. On this show we discuss how it seems to be a signing frenzy going on right now. Whether it's big publishing deals, record deals or label deals, the Big 3 Labels are shelling out the coin. Are they finding more artists deserving of deals or is there another agenda. I'd put my money on another agenda. Anyway...we get into it all on this one. Enjoy the convo and make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF57 — Revenge of the Dreamers 3 Sessions; Hype or Hope?
28/01/2019 Duración: 01h06minA few weeks ago, J. Cole sent out a "Golden Ticket" to what seemed like the entire music industry. Those who got a ticket were invited to TreeSound Studio in Atlanta to take part in the recording sessions for Revenge of The Dreamers 3. With a reported 90+ artists, producers, engineers and media flowing through the studio, over 10 days, expectations are through the roof. Oh to have been a fly of the wall!?!? This is the greatest gathering of talent for recording purposed since My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy; at least to my feeble memory lol. And it's definitely the largest "industry event" so far in 2019. Which makes this more than worthy of a #CFAF conversation. Be sure to listen to the Bonus Episode as soon as you're done with this one. We get into Cole's "Middle Child" record and more. I promise it's a dope bookend to #CFAF57. Enjoy!!! #CFAF Bonus Episode — J. Cole Fandom and the Middle Child Syndrome
28/01/2019 Duración: 36minWhat's good Few Tang Clan? There's been a couple weeks between the Revenge of the Dreamers 3 sessions and the release of this episode. We figured enough happened between then and now to give you all a Bonus Episode. Of course Cole dropped the Middle Child record so we HAD to get into that. Artists and producers alike shared stories about their experiences at the massive, 10 day Cook Up at TreeSound Studio in Atlanta. That's chat worthy and adds context to our prior convo. I [Jana] also had an interesting and intense exchange with a Cole fan (who'da thunk it right? lol), which altered my extremely skewed view of Cole's relationship with NC. I had to bring this new info/perspective to Allan for a full discussion. Preciate you checking out both episodes! #CFAF56 — Homosexuality in Hip Hop
21/01/2019 Duración: 01h01minAt its core, this conversation is about the authenticity of Hip Hop; or lack thereof. We're decades into the genre we all love and I'd bet good money none of you could name 5 known gay rappers. That's a problem. Why is that so? Are we "unevolved" as a culture? This may not be the most politically correct episode. But it IS honest and intended to shed light on a topic most of Hip Hop seems to be afraid to have. We ask each other dumb questions in efforts to hopefully gain intelligence and understanding. We reveal our own growth but more than that, where we started. This is a long overdue conversation about homosexuality in Hip Hop. Make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF Bonus Episode — Hip Hop Talk with Few Tang Family ft. Chink and Pab
17/01/2019 Duración: 44minWhat's good Few Tang Fam!?!? Do us a favor and eavesdrop on this impromptu conversation between myself, #CFAF cohost Jana, and two of my best friends, Chink and Pab. As usual, we chop it up about Hip Hop. This talk went a little bit of everywhere but that's par for the course during natural conversations right? We're missing my cohost Allan on this one but I think I repped well for my Brother! With that being said, I had to freak the intro and outro for this one lol. We hope you enjoy the banter. #CFAF55 — Music Appreciation in the Digital Era
14/01/2019 Duración: 58minWhat's good Few Tang Clan! Fans of Hip Hop got swamped, inundated, overwhelmed and rushed by music in 2018. I know we didn't get through it all. Which means tons of music (possibly good music) was missed. Even the music we DID hear, we didn't have the opportunity to sit with, and fully digest. We're trying to find ways to get back to true music appreciation. Is that something that's even possible in the Digital Era? If so, how? Did you all feel as swamped as we did? If so, how'd you all deal with it? Make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF54 — The Self Titled Episode
07/01/2019 Duración: 01h18minWhat's good Few Tang Clan! On this episode we chop it up about us. We figured we'd reveal a little about ourselves so you guy can get to know us better. We covered our individual histories with music, how we met each other and what led us start this show. Hopefully we gave y'all some things to think about while stating our case for being worthy to be here talking Hip Hop each and every week. OH! We were better than your favorite artists and producers in our day LOL! Make room for the tag...#ConversateForAFew --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conversateforafew/support

#CFAF53 — 2018: The Year In Review
01/01/2019 Duración: 01h28minThis has been one helluvah year in Hip Hop! And that's an understatement. We're pretty certain there's never been a year with so many releases in the genre, high level beefs/battles and accomplishments. On this episode we covered... The influx of albums this year Our 5 favorite or most played albums of 2018 The biggest surprises and "eventts" or happennigs We rank this year's beefs Make predictions for next year & Pay respect to those we lost We knew early on that we wouldn't be able to cover it all in one episode. That's why we recorded our "Half Year Review" episode in June. You should check it out and compare this episode to that one. There's a ton here though. You'll dig it. #CFAF52 — This Is Hip Hop's Greatest Era?
24/12/2018 Duración: 01h11minI promise we didn't start this episode looking to upset anyone or commit blasphemy. Somehow it happened anyway. THIS is the GREATEST era in Hip Hop of ALL TIME. We know it sounds crazy as hell but it's really not. We made what we think are valid arguments to prove our point. And please remember; we did not go into this episode thinking THIS, of all eras, is the greatest. But it is.
