It’s 2020 and the gang watched the first horror movie of the decade, THE GRUDGE…remake? Sequel? Sidiquel? Find out what a Sidequel is along with the Ghouls' thoughts on the latest installment in the franchise. But before they get into the main discussion: Alexz watched LITTLE WOMEN and LORDS OF CHAOS. Both Alexz and Jeanette were underwhelmed by STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. Everyone laughed at the LA stereotypes in season two of YOU, guessed what Joe Goldberg’s astrological sign is and took quizzes to see if they would survive his psychopathic ways (Slight spoilers at 20:49). Jeanette wasn’t impressed by the first episodes of WITCHER and DRACULA (both on Netflix). Ashley watched DETECTIVE PIKACHU, is re-binging SIX FEET UNDER, and started playing Hideo Kojima’s latest sci fi game DEATH STRANDING. In the first minisode of the year, we went back into the archives and pulled a fun one from November; The Ghouls went over their favorite childhood Haunt Season movies! Will stakes his claim as Sarah Sanderson from HOCUS POCUS for his Halloween costume next year, Jeanette loves every creative component of the versatile NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, Alexz is thinking of doing a rewrite of CASPER, and Ashley forces everyone to watch the iconic “Top That” clip from TEEN WITCH. Before they go down Memory Lane;  Alexz and Ashley watched a questionable episode of HAUNTED during their weekend Montauk trip. Jeanette watched NOS4A2. Alexz watched ELI, THE JOKER, PARASITE, and rewatched OVERLORD. The Ghouls talk about their favorite genre picks of 2019! Spoilers abound. 

This week the Ghouls minus Ashley watched the first film adaptation of Stephen King's DR SLEEP. Was it a worthy sequel to THE SHINING? Before they get into the main discussion; most of the gang is in the middle of moving apartments in New York City. Jeanette and Will are vamping up their new place. Will saw Sinead Harnett live,  Jeanette saw the band MORTICIAN, and Alexz saw TR/ST and Kim Petras. Will rewatched Marianne with a friend and Alexz went to see THE IRISNMAN at The Belasco Theatre and caught INTO THE DARK’s "PILGRIM" episode on Hulu in the middle of binging THE SIMPSONS TREEHOUSE OF HORROR episodes on Disney+. The gang is back, and they chronicle their October adventures and favorite films of haunt season! Spoilers abound, there are a lot of movies and films discussed!

Ghoul Chat decided to talk about two scary clown-themed movies in a row, so this week’s episode is Jeanette’s pick, TERRIFIER. Jeanette of course loves the amount of unrelentless gore throughout and Alexz thinks the performance of Art the Clown is horrifyingly great. On the other end, Will resents the torturous kill scenes and Ashley couldn’t look past the misogynistic undertones to enjoy them as well. Before they get into the main discussion, the Ghouls drank along to a Horror Movie Power Hour. Will is still keeping up with DRAGULA and TRUE BLOOD, Jeanette watched COOTIES, and they both watched all episodes of Netflix’s new witchy show MARIANNE. Alexz had quite the haul, and watched the new CREEPSHOW 2, TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID, THE HAUNTING OF SHARON TATE, AD ASTRA, THE LOST BOYS, AND TALL GIRL. Ashley has been binging on non genre shows FLEABAG and TRANSPARENT but is intrigued by the trailers for THE COLOR OUT OF SPACE and THE LODGE. This week the Ghouls discuss the long awaited IT: CHAPTER TWO, and there are some disagreements! Jeanette loved it and enjoyed its funhouse vibe. Will was entertained enough that he didn’t fall asleep once during a three hour movie. Ashley thought it was terrible, lacked tension and said the ending “offended her to her core”, and Alexz wanted a more eerie music score and mature scares. Before we all yell over each other about how bad or good the movie was…Alexz loved the technicolor fused THE LOVE WITCH and laughed her way through HOBBS & SHAW. Will is still watching the SCREAM TV series, and he and Ashley briefly discuss a bloody challenge the contestants of DRAGULA had to endure. Jeanette introduced Will to TRUE BLOOD and they’re currently watching the first season together. She also watched the trailer for the upcoming “cursed” 70s themed mockumentary ANTRUM, horror short JEFF THE SERIAL KILLER and a spooky episode of BET’s TALES. This week’s topic is the deviously bloody horror comedy READY OR NOT. Alexz declares that it’s a perfect movie, resident gore whore Jeanette loved all the blood, Will jokingly relates to one of the characters, and Ashley enjoyed its satire of privileged upper class society. Plus, everyone realizes they are thirsty for melancholy, rueful Adam Brody. Before we get into the main discussion, everyone except for Alexz has been watching and living for DRAGULA. Will is rewatching SCREAM QUEENS for the 100th time and is also rewatching the SCREAM tv series. Jeanette watched HALLOWEEN 3: SEASON OF THE WITCH, CHILDREN OF THE CORN, and GREEN INFERNO; Alexz relays her experience seeing the latter in 4DX and meeting Eli Roth. Ashley got nostalgic with INVADER ZIM: ENTER THE FLORPUS, started but didn’t finish Gaspar Noe’s CLIMAX, and rewatched season 2 of MINDHUNTER, where she connects one of its real life serial killers to THE EXORCIST. On this week’s episode, the Ghouls (minus Will) review and recap 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED. Everyone wonders why there wasn’t a single Latinx person in a movie located in Mexico, if fish can actually scream, and Ashley and Alexz reveal their aversion to nature based activities. Jeanette takes the sharks’ side and wants to fight one of the characters, Alexz thought John Corbett acted the shit of out the five minutes he was in the movie, and Ashley wasn’t expecting to be affected by the movie’s claustrophobic nature. Before the recap, Alexz started watching G.L.O.W. and reading LOVECRAFT COUNTRY, and skewers the original 47 METERS DOWN movie. This week’s episode is about Andre Ovredal’s SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK. Did the film adaptation of a beloved children’s horror anthology live up to expectations? The Ghouls discuss the monsters, the performances, and the scares of the Guillermo Del Toro produced PG13 horror. But first, Will and Alexz are finishing up EUPHORIA, and Jeanette watched BRIGHTBURN. Alexz has been binging SCHITT’S CREEK, and rewatched SWEENEY TODD. Jeanette started the Karate Kid YouTube series sequel COBRA KAI and previews the trailer for the Eli Roth produced HAUNT. Will and Jeanette are excited about the upcoming TIGER ARMY tour, and Alexz was surprised at the bro energy present at the DRAB MAJESTY show. Ari Aster’s MIDSOMMAR is the topic of this week’s episode. Will was unable to join, but special guest Megan (@meganwilde)sat in for him. The ghouls go in depth about the film’s motifs, themes, Swedish traditions, and astrological compatibilities amongst characters. Before they dive into Aster’s dark fairytale... Alexz was not impressed with the remake of THE LION KING, while Jeanette vouched for the hyperrealism of the animals. Alexz also loved INTO THE DARK’S "CULTURE SHOCK" episode on Hulu, but couldn’t sit through THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, and had conflicting thoughts on ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. Ashley was in a Sci-Fi mood and watched FIRST MAN and THE FIFTH ELEMENT. Jeanette was intrigued by the morally corrupt superheroes in new Amazon show THE BOYS. Megan suggests that everyone watch WILD WILD COUNTRY, and the group review the new trailer for IT: CHAPTER TWO. The Ghouls have risen from the dead and are back with a new episode. This week the gang recaps and reviews STRANGER THINGS 3, and are unanimous about their love for the new season. But first…there’s a lot to catch up on! Will rewatched the EVIL DEAD remake and realized it’s not as scary when he’s sober, and he and Ashley started watching HBO’s dark yet visually stunning teen drama EUPHORIA. In keeping up with the spirit of Pride, Alexz’s pick for this week is Yann Gonzalez’s queer arthouse homage to Giallo films, KNIFE + HEART. Of course, Alexz was in love with its synthy score and the pre 80s time period. Ashley appreciated the lack of straight male gaze and its colorful cinematography. Jeanette explained what a fluffer was to Will, and he in turn told everyone what a darkroom is. It’s Pride month, and the Ghouls have a special guest, Will C! He's not as spooky as the rest of the ghouls, but they're actively trying to convert him and have him sign the Book of the Beast. Alexz finally watched PAN’S LABYRINTH. Both Ashley and Alexz watched the season premiere of BIG LITTLE LIES and the first three episodes of THE HANDMAID’S TALE. Alexz has been playing DARKWOOD on the Nintendo Switch and everyone else reminisces about playing UNTIL DAWN. Jeanette discovered a punk/metal radio station for the NJ/NY area and is intrigued by the new show on AMC, NOS4A2. Jeanette’s friend created a horror short based on the Momo meme and she gives the dark backstory on how it went viral. This week, Will is offsite entertaining a guest he summoned from the underworld while the rest of the ghouls saw GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS. Jeanette loved the soundtrack and the black metal-esque shots of King Ghidorah; while Alexz wanted more monsters and less family drama. Ashley goes off on a mini tangent about the New York Times reveal of aliens visiting Earth. Before they discuss the longest running franchise of all time, Ghoul Chat was invited to an intimate event for SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK, and were able to converse with producer, Guillermo Del Toro, and director, Andre Ovredal. This week, Ashley finally gets to nerd out on her favorite horror film of as of late, Ari Aster’s HEREDITARY. The gang dives into the mythology and Easter eggs of the world Aster created and how it emotionally and psychologically affected them. They also review Aster’s short, THE STRANGE THING ABOUT THE JOHNSONS and discuss their hopes for MIDSOMMAR. Due to unfortunate circumstances, the first 45 minutes of our episode disappeared, so we can’t weigh in on the new genre flicks that recently came out. However, the Ghouls hexed the podcast technology to ensure it doesn’t happen again! Until next time....

It’s Jeanette’s pick for this episode, so everyone watched the gory horror anime CASTLEVANIA on Netflix. We chat about the show’s own take on the mythology of Dracula and also gush about how much we love vampire lore in general. Before we get into it, Jeanette assaults our heartstrings by revealing spoilers from A DOG’S JOURNEY, Will can only watch one act of SUSPIRIA (2018) at a time before falling asleep, and Alexz watched PHANTASM and THE DESCENT for the first time. She also didn’t care for EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL, AND VILE and mentions how crazy the plot for RIVERDALE has gotten. Everyone is lukewarm on the last season of GAME OF THRONES, and the gang also reviews the new trailers for IT: CHAPTER TWO and MIDSOMMAR.

This week, the Ghouls decided to tread through sour grounds to discuss Kevin Kolsch + Dennis Widmyer’s 2019 remake of one of Stephen King’s best stories, PET SEMATARY. Jeanette questions the characters’ parenting skills, Will notices that everyone’s eyes are barely open, Ashley wanted more creepy Victor and Zelda scenes, Alexz critiques some of the writing in the script, but everyone agrees Church the cat is the breakthrough performance and touch upon Mary Lambert's 1989 version. But before we get into the meat of it all…Alexz and Jeanette are starting a book club and recommends GLASS HOUSES by Rachel Caine and THE GRAVEYARD BOOK by Neil Gaiman.
