A much anticipated interview aired in the United States on Sunday, March 7 of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan. Oprah Winfrey gave the interview of her life and delivered that has many people talking. During the two-hour special Duke and Duchess of Sussex opened up about racism, mental health struggles, the gender of their second child and an emotional exchange Meghan had with Duchess Kate. Casey Keyser joins us to talk about her philosophy of keeping kids engaged during virtual learning and the NEA Foundation recognition The NEA Foundation awarded one of public education’s top honors to Casey Keyser, a third-grade elementary school teacher at Butterfly Ridge Elementary School in Frederick, Md., at the NEA Foundation Salute to Excellence in Education Gala. The NEA Member Benefits Award for Teaching Excellence, which comes with $25,000, was presented to Keyser by NEA Member Benefits President and CEO Gary Phoebus. Keyser has said that her goal is to help students be “the best that they can be.” Always thinking creatively, she created an after-school program called the Bow Tie Club, to inspire the next generation of African-American student leaders. Each week, the students wear their dress clothes and bow ties to welcome a guest speaker from the community. In September, 2021 LTC Doug Sweet will transition out of the Army. Sweet has seen multiple combat tours, and now he wants “The Last Mile” of his military career to be an adventure in which he serves others. Doug will hike the entire 2,193 mile-long Appalachian Trail beginning Thursday Feb 25­. We chatted with him the day before flying to Georgia to start his journey from Springer Mountain. Doug will hike until June 2021 when he reaches Mount Katahdin in Maine. LTC Sweet's effort will be to raise funds and raise awareness for veterans homelessness. His fundraising effort will benefit DC’s Miriam’s Kitchen. The goal is $100,000. Come On Lets Help Him Out!
