Apologia just launched a brand new Bible curriculum titled The Word in Motion. Rachael is the author – pretty cool. And one of our sons is the illustrator – doubly cool. This two-volume study is published in partnership with Walk Thru the Bible. What makes this course different from others? But more importantly, why is Bible study so important in the first place?

When our country locked down in March of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many jokingly quipped that people will either get fat and lazy, get in the best shape of their lives, or get pregnant. When January 2021 rolled around, the world anxiously awaited the news. Was there about to be a baby boom? Our 3rd grandchild was born late January – a clear and undeniable COVID baby. Sadly, the overall US and world statistics showed a baby bust. Is this good or bad news? What does this say about our culture? What should the homeschooling community think and do about this trend?

In December 2020, a story reported that every student in the Durham, North Carolina, public schools would receive an A on their annual end-of-year exams because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Grade inflation is already a widely known fact, but what are the implications? And more directly to our homeschooling audience, what’s the take-away for families that are educating their kids at home?

This year—in 2021—we want to invite you to join us in a new prayer initiative. Each month we’re going to focus on one specific prayer for the homeschooling community and the movement we represent collectively. Today we’re going to look at the 5th item on our new list of 10: That families will be able to say they had awesome homeschool experiences. Better than they ever imagined.

This month, on May 19, we celebrated the graduation of our son Joseph. He is the sixth one of our seven kids to graduate from the Carman Family Home School. During the summer of 2020, the team at Apologia prayed every day for the homeschooling movement. At the time there were millions of families who were seriously considering whether or not to jump into the deep end of the pool and start their own homeschooling journey. This year—in 2021—we want to invite you to join us in a new prayer initiative. Each month we’re going to focus on one specific prayer for the homeschooling community and the movement we represent collectively. Today we’re going to look at the 4th item on our new list: That kids will love learning and be able to say “I love homeschool.”

How do you protect them from the inherent dangers? Easy to answer; hard to make happen.

Today in part 9, you are most likely at a point when your kid started asking about tattoos, ear or body piercings, bikinis, or other fashion statements that make you nervous. Do you feel your grip loosening? Do you let them decide these things on their own? Are their any dangers? We offer two main suggestions.

The homeschool market doubled from 2019 to 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic was largely the reason for this significant demographic shift. Will all the newbies be one and done? Will the homeschool population remain flat? Or will there be another surge of new families that decide enough is enough and make the jump to home education? In this episode, we paint four possible scenarios. We even go out on a limb and make a bold prediction. 

Most reports agree that the homeschool community grew from 3 million to 6 million this last August. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic was largely the catalyst causing families to decide to give homeschooling a try last fall. We want to share two important messages to everyone today. 1) You can do this. And 2) It’s good, really good for your kids.
