#89 Homeschool Rocks
18/10/2021 Duración: 19minHave you ever seen those rocks in front of public school buildings with a spray-painted message announcing the news of a kid's birthday? That’s all well and good, but we can think of much bigger news to share. We believe that the best news going on in America right now is the homeschooling movement. In other words, "Homeschooling Rocks." And when you think of rocks, do priorities also come to mind? You know, the important things in life. If you don’t already know, let me inform or remind you that homeschooling provides the best answers for the big rocks of life, especially when it comes to the education, socialization, training in righteousness, and overall well-being of your children. #86 Eric Carle and The Very Hungry Caterpillar
27/09/2021 Duración: 15minOn May 23, 2021, Eric Carle passed away after a lifetime of achievements spanning 91 years. He is best known for his illustrated children’s books including Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Carle is quoted as saying that he attempted to “…bridge the gap between the home and school...home represents...warmth, security, toys, holding hands, being held. School is a strange and new place for a child…I believe the passage from home to school is the second biggest trauma of childhood; the first is, of course, being born. Indeed, in both cases, we leave a place of warmth and protection for one that is unknown…” Wow. I couldn't agree more. And what a pro homeschool statement.

#80 Mr and Mrs Lastname
16/08/2021 Duración: 16minI worked in children’s ministries for three decades (the 1990’s, 2000’s, and 2010’s). One of my pet peeves was the trend of introducing the adult leaders as Mr Joseph or Miss Susie. When I was the Commander of AWANA I insisted that all kids address the adult leaders as Mr Smith or Mrs Jones. What do you think? Was this really necessary? Or was I trying to be a fish swimming upstream for no good reason?

It wasn’t part of their plan, but drastic changes in the world forced them to be more intentional than ever about the education of their kids. Our question to you today is this: What will it take? In this episode, we take a look at the issues at stake.
