You DON'T only live once

Today we going to discuss how to approach this year 2022.  If we have learnt anything in the past 3 years, it is the fact that we are not God. We can not predict the future. I’m always reminded of the first lock where we thought regulations will be lifted after two weeks.  Here we are opening up but so much is still affected. The axienty of how long schools will reman opened etc.

Some times we think we can survive without necessarily being in God’s Word. Then there is a part of us that wants to be “Practical”. If You need to start business? Logic says, “Take a loan” and delay payment as much as possible.  Can I trust God even in my business? Trust seems to be for those in ministry.  How practical is His counsel?  Wonderful Counsellor!

Did He have to become flesh? What is the background to all of this? Why is this the best solution to man’s problems? I can also note that becoming flesh is not the same as being created. But also that He was in the beginning… But why Christmas. He could have just become flesh without being born.

As we exchange gifts this season, it is important to be reminded of the gifts / blessings we have in Christ Jesus.  “ the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, … has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,” - Eph 1:3 How do these blessings translate into our world today? Are they “tangible”? What about the gifts we never received that the others got?

Christmas means different things for different people. What does Christmas mean for you? Not, what should Christmas mean for you? We shall get to that later. To what level should we let others into our lives? See, the issue is we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God So, where does one get the audacity from to tell me about the sin I have committed as if they are without sin? We have for the last 2 episodes been talking about relationships and of course the area of purity has to come up. It is such a hot topic that we are doing 2 parts for it. And today is going to be a special focus on this young man devoid of understanding. (“devoid of understanding” is a very polite way of saying, “you are Dense! My friend!” ) But today is not about insulting people but I believe the Bible uses such phrases to emphasise a major point. Where there is wisdom, there is also “un-wiseness” and this is one of those cases. We naturally feel that if we think something, it must be true because it comes from within us. But just because you think something does not make it true. As I said above, I have seen the face of mental illness. So many different suggestions can come into the mind. The world puts suggestions in our minds that are false, and we are bombarded with those false ideas all the time. And, of course, Satan makes suggestions all the time. But your problem is much deeper than Satan. Everybody has a mental illness. We are all mentally ill. The mental illness is called sin. And the Bible uses at least a dozen different phrases for the condition of our minds under sin. Our minds are: confused (Deuteronomy 28:20) anxious, closed (Job 17:3–4) evil, restless (Ecclesiastes 2:21–23) rash, deluded (Leviticus 5:4; Isaiah 32:4 NIV) The Bible talks about: a troubled mind (2 Kings 6:11) a depraved mind (1 Timothy 6:5) a sinful mind (Romans 8:7 NIV) a dull mind (2 Corinthians 3:14 NIV) a blinded mind (2 Corinthians 4:4) a

It is unrelenting, and it is unfair because Satan never plays fair. And the reason why it is so intense is that your greatest asset is your mind. When Paul said, ""For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing." alot is revealed.  One of the revelations in those verses is the concept of failure.
