In Extra Time this week Radio New Zealand Sport discusses the Cricket World Cup and why it's taking so long to find the champion. The New Zealand Breakers celebrate their victory in the Australian National Basketball League. After a 20-year association with Team New Zealand, skipper Dean Barker decided to leave the America's Cup syndicate and squash player Joelle King has all but completed her return to the sport after a major injury.

Action aplenty from start to finish in Extra Time this week with rugby league, basketball, football, golf, athletics and tennis. The Warriors kicks off their NRL season, we talk to skipper Simon Mannering. The Breakers begin their ANBL finals campaign. Ernie Merrick tells us why it was a no brainer re-signing as coach with the Wellington Phoenix. The Auckland golfer, Ryan Fox, is back playing at home for the first time since becoming the New Zealand number one. Long jump world record holder Mike Powell leaps into action in Wellington and we also talk Davis Cup tennis with New Zealand playing China.

In Extra Time this week - we speak to Team New Zealand boss Grant Dalton about the controversial axing of Dean Barker as skipper and helmsman and we hear from a devastated Barker himself about his shock dumping.

In the programme this week, we look at the Wellington Phoenix's latest signing, talk Super Rugby with Aaron Smith and hear about Cedric Jackson's miracle shot in the NBL. Then we hit the beach to look at the future of Surfing New Zealand and preview the New Zealand Beach Volleyball Open.

On this week's edition of Extra Time - the wait is finally over for cricket fans with the World Cup in our own backyard for the first time in 23 years. The coach of the 1992 side Warren Lees gives an insight into what lies ahead of the Black Caps. The current coach looks forward to the tournament, and we introduce some of the newcomers to the event. We also look at the winners of this year's Halberg Awards. The Football Ferns talk about their World Cup preparations, and New Zealand Rugby's medical director discusses initiatives to better assess and respond to head injuries.

In the programme this week, we hear Lord Sebastian Coe's vision for athletics and preview the Wellington sevens. We also hear from Jerome Champagne about his failed bid for the Fifa presidency and check in with the Breakers as they resume their race for the NBL minor premiership.

And New Zealander Jason McCracken discusses his appointment as tournament director for the Rio2016 Olympic men's hockey tournament.

In Extra Time this week, the venue for the next America's Cup was decided, but it appears it's not the ideal place as far as Team New Zealand is concerned. New Zealand Football sets out its plan for the future. Heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker has his next bout on the road to the big time. We catch up with Silver Ferns netball captain Casey Kopua as she continues her recovery from a major injury and one of our top swimmers in recognised for her efforts out of the pool.
