Sinopsis
Bowhunting Soul is a podcast for the bowhunting and archery enthusiast. We talk bowhunting, archery, arrows, ethics, truths and myths, and generally geek out over tuning. Although this podcast is mostly traditional bow related, I do have a compound I shoot from time to time. So come along and spend time with me as I ramble on about stuff while podcasting in my car!

Bowhunting Soul EP18: Harmon Carson
22/10/2019 Duración: 01h30minIn this episode I talk with the Bayou Bowhunter, Harmon Carson. Harmon is a Louisiana native and is a straight up killer. No deer or hogs (lots and lots of hogs) are safe from this guy! He is mostly a traditional bowhunter, a taxidermist by trade, and an all-round good guy. We talk about taxidermy, terrain, deer, hogs, scouting and his bow setup. I really enjoyed talking to him. If you want to follow Harmon on social media, his youtube channel is "Bayou Bowhunter". His business is "New Life Taxidermy". If you like the show, PLEASE leave a rating! Ratings are hugely important so others can find this show. Also please like, share and subscribe and spread the word on social media! Thanks for listening! Emrah

Bowhunting Soul EP17: Ethics
07/10/2019 Duración: 01h11minWell, this one can be controversial. This episode is just me talking about my ideas on what fair chase is and isn't. And even if it isn't, does it matter? Maybe yes, maybe not. The subject of ethics covers lots of topics and even more emotions. There are some issues that are a definite go/no-go for me, while others fall under a grey area and may be situationally and geographically dependent. Either way, YOU have to be ok with the person looking back at you in the mirror. Hope you enjoy the episode! If you like this episode, please leave a rating. This is VERY important so others can find us. Also remember to share and tell you friends! Thanks for listening. Emrah

Bowhunting Soul EP14: Bill Hoffman of Hoffman's Hunting Heritage
02/09/2019 Duración: 51minThis week I'm publishing a swapcast I did with Bill Hoffman at Hoffman's Hunting Heritage. Bill is an interesting guy with about 10 jobs. No joke!. Police officer, author, podcaster, voice over artist, magician, comedian, ordained minister and a bunch I've probably forgotten! Bill is the author of the Twins of Prey series of novels and he's graciously given our listeners a free downloadable copy of the first book, so be sure to listen to the end to get the details on how to download that e-book. Hope you enjoy the podcast! Emrah

19/08/2019 Duración: 01h31minIn this episode, I talk about my new foray into the world of saddle hunting. I've officially ditched the conventional tree stand and decided to hunt from a Tethrd Mantis tree saddle. I discuss the equipment, how I carry it all in, how I set it up and the pros and cons of hunting from a saddle. If you're interested at all about saddle hunting, this is a great episode for you! Bowhunting Soul EP12: Warren Womack
05/08/2019 Duración: 01h15minIn this episode I have the great pleasure of talking to an absolute legend,: Mr. Warren Womack. Warren is a 75 year old Louisiana bowhunter who has been hunting since he was 12 years old. This guy knows how to get it done. Currently there are some tactics being used by hardcore hunters that some consider "new". Going in deep. Backpacking. Mobile hunting. Quartering and packing deer out instead of dragging it for miles. Well, Warren has done ALL of that for decades, long before it was cool! Not only that, but at the ripe age of 71, he decides to try out saddle hunting! It was an absolute pleasure to talk to Warren and I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. If you like this episode, please subscribe and share. Most importantly, please leave a RATING! Bowhunting Soul EP11: Bareshaft Tuning
22/07/2019 Duración: 42minIn this episode I discuss bareshaft tuning. What is it? Why is it necessary? How do you go about it? What are the steps? It really bothers me when people say, "I don't shoot a bareshaft at an animal, I shoot a fletched arrow." I think bareshaft tuning is a vital step in tuning your bow and arrow setup. It shows you what the arrow shaft REALLY wants to do out of your setup without the aid of fletching. Fletching is only there to make minor corrections, not keep a wildly out of tune arrow from going sideways! Join me as I delve into how to bareshaft tune the right way. If you like this episode, please like, share and subscribe. And most importantly, PLEASE LEAVE A RATING! It's vitally important to get listed higher in searches! Thanks for listening! Emrah

We talk about his successful bear hunt this past spring, his roots, family, and general life philosophy. Dylan is a very positive and inspirational guy and worth following on social media. If you like this episode, please subscribe and share this podcast. And remember, ratings are very important, so please leave a rating! Thanks for listening. Emrah

Bowhunting Soul EP10: Blain Swanson
24/06/2019 Duración: 01h13minIn this episode, I'm joined by fellow Minnesotan Blain Swanson. Blaine lives and chases critters in northern Minnesota with his trad bows. In fact, he has a bit of a trad bow "collecting" problem. In this episode, we talk hunting deer, our love/hate relationship with turkeys and our passion for traditional bows. Lots and lots of trad bows. We geek out on some techy stuff regarding bows and arrow builds. Near the end we discuss how we're both diving into the world of saddle hunting this upcoming season. This is just a good old BS session with two guys who can't stop jibber jabbering about their trad equipment. If you like this episode, please be sure to rate it and give it a 5-star rating. And be sure to subscribe and share it with your hunting friends. Thanks for listening! Emrah

Bowhunting Soul EP09: Saddle Hunting With Greg Godfrey of Tethrd
10/06/2019 Duración: 01h03minI'm a newbie saddle hunter. I've ditched my stand and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Tethrd Mantis saddle. Today I talk with Tethrd co-owner Greg Godfrey about saddle hunting. I am approaching it from the point of a view of a total newb. How to do it, how to climb, what ropes are used, what knots I should know, and even terminology like splicing. Oh, and just what is a "bight" anyway? If you''re a beginner saddle hunter like me, I'm sure you've had similar questions. I hope I asked enough to answer the important ones. If you like this episode, please like, share and subscribe. Most important, please leave a rating! Thanks for listening! Emrah

Bowhunting Soul EP08: Cliff Cadet of Urbanarcherynyc
27/05/2019 Duración: 01h13minInstagram is filled with people wanting to get Insta-famous. There is no lack of me-too chest pounding and self-promotion. However, every once in a while you come across someone who catches your attention for a good reason. Meet Cliff Cadet. His IG handle is @urbanarcherynyc. He doesn't fit the stereotype of a hunter. He's African-American. He's middle-aged. And to top it off, he lives in Queens. Somehow, an interest in archery and bow hunting was sparked inside of him and he's jumped head-first into the outdoor world. He is a very humble, open-minded guy who's Instagram account is filled with positivity and honesty. I had a great conversation with him about what it's like to be a late-adult-onset hunter in the heart of NY city. If you like this episode, please subscribe, share and leave a positive rating and review! Thanks for listening!

Bowhunting Soul Ep07: Omega Longbows With Kegan McCabe
13/05/2019 Duración: 01h03minToday I talk with bowyer and owner of Omega Longbows Kegan McCabe. He's a younger bowyer, but Kegan has made quite a name for himself in the traditional world by building affordable, rock-solid longbows. We discuss how he got started, how he hunts and what made him decide to become a bowyer. We also talk about bow and limb design in general. Some neat "techy" stuff in this one. I very much enjoyed talking to him and I hope you'll enjoy listening! If you like this episode, please subscribe, share and leave a review! Emrah

Bowhunting Soul Ep06: Beware The Trad Police!
29/04/2019 Duración: 01h04minI love traditional archery. But I almost hate the term "Traditional Archery". Although the "trad" world is very open, accepting and helpful, there is definitely a subset of the genre that we refer to as the "Trad Police". Sights? Never! Aiming using your arrow? How dare you! Bareshaft tuning? Why would you want to do that? Don't you have feathers? Personally, I'm tired of listening to crusty old crumudgeons telling new shooter (who actually want to HIT what they're aiming at) that they're not "trad" enough. It's not a total bash session, but this episode delves into things I've had on my mind for a while now. This episode proudly brought to you by the hashtag #strugglestick. Please remember to share this episode and give a review. Good, bad or indifferent! Thanks for listening!

Bowhunting Soul Ep05: Tradbow "201". How Do I Shoot This Thing?
15/04/2019 Duración: 01h02minYou've bought your first traditional bow and some gear to get started. Now what? How do you shoot this thing? What should you be concerned with? What should you NOT be concerned with at this point? Is bareshaft tuning necessary? How about FOC? And what is "expansion" anyway? This episode discusses how to get started actually shooting this thing! If you like this episode, please leave a rating, and like, share and subscribe. Thanks for listening!

01/04/2019 Duración: 52minThe interest in traditional archery booming! But how does one get started? Episode03: My Last Season and Some Lessons Learned
25/03/2019 Duración: 59minLast season was a great one and a tough one all at the same time for me. I didn't shoot a single thing. Not with a trad bow, compound, rifle, muzzleloader, shotgun, nothing! But I feel I learned more from last season than most previous ones combined. I'll talk about what I learned regarding strategy, terrain, equipment, animal behavior and filming. Give a listen and let me know if you guys learned similar things last year as well. Please subscribe and leave a review! Thanks for listening!

Bowhunting Soul Ep02: Why I Bowhunt
18/03/2019 Duración: 48minThis episode delves a little into my history and why I hunt. More specifically, why I bowhunt. I did't grow up in a hunting family, so my journey into hunting in general as a natural progression from shooting trap and skeet for fun. It was just a way for a couple friends and I to kill some time. Well, it grew from there! Give a listen and see if your hunting passion started like mine.

Bowhunting Soul Ep01: An Introduction
11/03/2019 Duración: 18minHi folks! My name is Emrah Oruc and this is the very first episode of the Bowhunting Soul podcast. In this episode, I introduce myself, tell you a little bit about me, and set some expectations about this podcast. There are dozens (hundreds?) of hunting and archery related podcasts out there, and I listen to most of them. My goal with this podcast is to approach topics from a different angle than you may have previously heard.
