How to communicate in writing. EFFECTIVELY! Episode 16
23/03/2019 Duración: 04minHave you heard of BLOT? It stands for Bottom Line On Top and is an exceptionally effective technique for written communications. The next time you write an email, read it from the perspective of the recipient and determine if there is a better, more effective way to draft your message. Things to consider: Is everything jammed into one blob of text? Are your questions clearly written? If asking multiple questions, do they contradict one another? Is your subject line a good indication of what you want? For example, do you have a question or are you simply providing an update? If you need or would like a response by a certain time, is that stated in your message. Writing a great email doesn't come naturally to any of us on the first draft. It's important to draft, read and revise your messages. Contact me at kathy@everbetterideas if you would like guidance on how to use this technique in your written communications. --- Send in a voice mess

Passion, priorities, balance & unbalance. Episode 15.
20/03/2019 Duración: 05minYes. You can have it all but you can't have it all at once. Life is busy and we need to prioritize who and what gets our time and attention. Sometimes our work life needs to be a lower priority so we can take care of ourselves or a loved one. Sometimes we need to *gasp* put more time and energy into our careers. In this episode of the Everbetter Ideas podcast I share my favorite segment from Episode 491 by The Art of Manliness. How do you maintain balance in your life? How do you reclaim it when you feel like you have stretched yourself too thin? What is the hardest thing for you to put on the backburner when you realize that something has to give? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/everbetterideas/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/everbetterideas/support

The ways in which I am stepping outside of my comfort zones. Episode 12.
18/03/2019 Duración: 05minThis episode of the Everbetter Ideas podcast was inspired by an episode of Dr. Phil McGraw's new podcast, Phil in the Blanks. I recently heard Dr. Phil interviewed on two other podcasts (links below) which prompted me to listen to a few episodes of Phil in the Blanks. One of the Dr. Phil's episodes talks about getting out of your comfort zone. I have been finding myself more and more intrigued by opportunities to get outside of my comfort zone. Starting this podcast is one great example of that. In this episode I share another example of how I am pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. I get the sense that other people around me are also interested in pushing outside of their regular routines & comfort zones. I see examples of this on social media when friends and family ask for guidance on finding music instructors, sign up for painting or other creative classes, or start a new healthy habit like working out daily. Are you doing anything that pushes you to step outside of your comfort zone? The

Using technology to add value to your life. Episode 11.
14/03/2019 Duración: 05minI’ve been thinking a lot about how I have traditionally used technology & how I might alter my use to add more value to my life. How do I stop mindless scrolling, angry reactions to the opinions of others and instead do things that bring more joy to my life? Social media isn’t all bad. I mention the value it does add to my life in this episode. I also reference this video by Casey Neistat. Expectations, assumptions & stories. Episode 5.
07/03/2019 Duración: 02minEpictetus and Tim Pool provide today’s inspiration. Do you ever find yourself wondering about the intentions of others? Assuming the worst when you don't have all of the information to know what really drove them to behave as they did? I recently listened to Joe Rogan interview Tim Pool. Listen to this podcast to hear me paraphrase something from the podcast. It reminded me very much of my favorite philosopher, Epictetus. I share some of his wisdom in this podcast as well.
