Bydd y podlediad hwn yn gyfle i ddeall ychydig mwy am gynigion y Cynllun Ffermio Cynaliadwy a sut y gallai’r cynllun weithredu yng nghyd-destun fferm ddefaid go iawn. Byddwn yn canolbwyntio ar y camau gweithredu cyffredinol ar gyfer meincnodi, iechyd anifeiliaid a bioddiogelwch yn benodol wrth i ni ystyried y broses barhaus o gynhyrchu bwyd yn gynaliadwy o fewn y cynigion. Mae holl ffermwyr Cymru’n cael eu hannog i gwblhau’r arolwg SFS i helpu Llywodraeth Cymru i ddatblygu cynigion yr SFS i wneud yn siŵr eu bod yn gweithio ar lawr gwlad. Gellir dod o hyd i’r arolwg [yma] a daw i ben ar 31 Hydref 2022.

In the last episode of the podcast we heard about the three 'P's of sustainable farming. This time we'll here about the three 'T's- teeth, testicles and toes with vet Tom Searle as he discusses a very important procedure 'The Ram MOT' .  As we enter the breeding season, our guest presenter Tom Searle BVetMed (Hons) MRCVS talks us through the fundamentals.  Tom graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014, and now works at South Wales Farm vets. He enjoys all aspects of farm work, especially beef and sheep fertility/productivity. His special interests are with bull and ram fertility, as well as building his experience with embryo transfer.

This episode will be the first in a series introduced by a range of guest presenter on a variety of topics from Welsh Agriculture and beyond. The first guest presenter will be a familiar voice to the podcast, Rhys Williams, a sheep and cattle farmer and a farm business consultant for Precision Grazing Ltd. Rhys had the privilege of catching up with Farmers Weekly Beef Farmer of the year Aled Evans at Rest Farm near Whitland. In this episode they'll be discussing the journey that Aled is on in developing a sustainable livestock farming system. We will be specifically looking at three elements of sustainable farming, the three P’s which are Profit, Planet and People.

In this episode our Red Meat Technical Officer Lisa Roberts revisit's Marc Jones and his family at Trefnant Hall, Welshpool. Marc was deservedly rewarded last year with the British Grassland Society 'grassland farmer of the year award. We discuss the drivers to change to a forage based system, including a focus on suitable stock class and breed and how fodder beet plays an important role of reducing wintering cost. Lisa and Marc visit areas of the farm to experience the new diverse lays approach and their potential benefits and challenges, including mitigating the challenge against high fertiliser cost and extreme weather patterns. This episode is one not to be missed.

Something a little bit different within this episode as we're guided by leader of the Agri Academy, Llyr Derwydd and members of the Business and Innovation programme as they visit Bilboa and the Basque region. It's a whistle-stop tour of the diverse farming practices within the region, from the more conventional dairy farm located in Laukiz to a vineyard and a tomato producer in Arrankudiaga. They group also visited Mutriku, a seaside village where the first wave electricity plant in Europe is located. This trip certainly inspired the next generation of farming and forestry innovators and entrepreneurs in Wales.

Geraint Davies of Fedw Arian Uchaf Farm near Bala shares what he’s been doing to improve the environmental and economic performance of his farm from planting new hedgerows to incorporating rotational grazing and trialling agroforestry. Also on the podcast is Geraint Jones, Forestry Technical Officer for Farming Connect, who’s been working with Fedw Arian as one of Farming Connect’s focus farms.
