Humor as a Source of Therapy (3 Ways) - #106
13/05/2021 Duración: 06minSo in the last episode some reason my microphone settings got changed and I sounded like a chipmunk in the intro and outro. I was upset about this at first and decided to run with it! :DHappy little accidents... am I right? If this hadn't happened I guarantee this episode wouldn't have been planned and created so quickly. It was great to create an episode on this topic and just get to appreciate the ridiculous voice and just the good times of making it. :)Creating an episode about humor therapy was also good therapy for me... as sometimes I am a bit too serious about things. I am learning a lot for sure though to combat that.... humor therapy is a great weapon. :)Anyways I hope that this episode makes ya laugh or is inspirational and helpful in some way. Hope you have a great rest of your week and thanks as always for listening! 1. It is so ridiculous and out of the ordinary2. There is a beauty or zest to it3. It reminds you who you are and what you are looking towards.Support the show

Choosing to Roll Forward in Life ft. James Perdue - #105
11/05/2021 Duración: 37minJames Perdue, aka the Professor of Perseverance came on the show to share his story of overcoming the odds. After becoming paralyzed from the neck down James chose to keep rolling forward and trust that there was still a ton of good he could do. He chose to write his life's story and not let someone's flawed view of his circumstances write it.In this episode:The ABC's of bouncing back from a struggleTaking notice of the little signs before you get into troubleHelp if you are struggling at this timeAlso some reason for the intro and outro my audio came out sounding like a chipmunk and yeah that was not intentional. I do plan on recording the next episode tonight though just for fun.More From James:His Website: http://professorofperseverance.com/index.htmlHis Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/professor-perseverance-podcast-motivation-inspiration/id1518353436Support the show

3 Quick Messages to Encourage Myself Today From My Future Self - #104
07/05/2021 Duración: 05minRecently I feel like we have been making some real progress in my overall self-care and getting on the right track with things. As I was walking to class though I had these three things come to mind as things I would like my present self to hold on to . I would like this episode to be as if my 30 or 40 year old self was talking to myself now. This is definitely a more personal episode but I hope it will give some perspective on how I am trying to talk to myself and keep things in a healthy perspective. The hope with sharing this of course is that it will give someone else some help as it has done for me.I am likely going to be uploading interviews again on this upcoming Monday so I wanted to make this piece of content to help me (and you) as we continue to move forward.1. You have come a long way - The fruits of my life say that I have been consistent in trying and that is something I need to keep in mind. Obviously there are things that I cannot continue to do because they would be holding me back, but I nee

The kind where you have a clear purpose behind it.3. The one where the circumstances and things are more out of your control.Support the show

5 Nos That Led to Better Yeses in My Life's Journey - #102
30/04/2021 Duración: 14minI recently got turned down from a job that I was really hoping I would get. It was one of those nos that stung. I had a backup plan though to deliver pizza for Pizza Hut and so I will be doing that instead, and I am pumped for what I will learn from it!This got me thinking though about times in my life where I have been told "no" though and how they ultimately led to better yeses. I could and probably will make an episode all about some lessons that the word "no" has taught me specifically. Here are the five stories that I told in this podcast episode, I hope that it is helpful for you. I also shared some commentary and other thoughts on the stories I shared for additional feedback and deeper learning. Hope you enjoy! 1. Not choosing to take the internship which then led me to working the potato farm job (which led to the creation of this podcast!)2. Not making the basketball team which led to me being the basketball manager which helped me learn lots of lessons about myself I consider foun

3 Massive Changes I Have Made From Last Semester - #101
27/04/2021 Duración: 07minLast semester was a VERY humbling one for me. I did like 8 podcast interviews and put out 24 podcast episodes total! Honestly I did not give myself enough of the credit and chance to enjoy the fruits of my labors and things as I could have... hence the burnout I kind of hit. This semester though we are taking all of those lessons and applying them. I have tried to pretty much do the same things that I did right from last semester and also switch around the things I was mistaken on (like working too hard without more play time). Here are the three massive changes I have made. I hope that it gives you some perspective as you start a new semester of school or just of your life in general.1. I am prioritizing my free time. - I am trying to make my free time the most valuable thing for me so I can get the recharge that I need. The play is to take little breaks throughout the day as needed and then self-care and chill out after like 8 PM. It is taking some time but I am figuring it out, but yeah this mindset shift ha

A Helpful Analogy, Reflections on Episodes 1-99, and Looking Ahead - #100
23/04/2021 Duración: 23minWe made it to one hundred episodes! This is amazing and I am so thankful for your continued support! I wanted this one to be special so we dove into some thoughts I've had recently, reflected on the journey so far, and look ahead a bit. We talked about the past, present, and future in the same episode! Hope you enjoy and that it is helpful for you.Helpful Analogy - The best boats could have a leak that holds them back. It helps to take care of that thing when you can because if you keep going with it it could sink you.ReflectionsI started this journey on August 24, 2019 1.The second you start the journey, you need direction and you can eventually help others find theirs. 2.The worst thing that could happen is if you didn’t go. There is always opposition to you doing something that is good.3.You start for a reason, and you continue for a different reason. There will some that will be there for the long haul and some that aren’t. Just be grateful for the opportunities you have.Podcasting is a very deep pool

2021 Podcast Goals Revisited - #95
05/04/2021 Duración: 08minWe made some BIG goals for the podcast at the beginning of the year. With Q1 of the year in the books now I thought that we would look back and see how we are doing with them so far.I had a goal to reach 20k total downloads on the podcast, and to do that I had three objectives:1. Involve the community more - I made a Google form and stuff but overall I could do a lot better in this area.2. Get my personal brand more figured out - I have made a lot of progress in this area! I have decided to focus more on talking about self-care and have that be a giant part of my brand. I do not think this is too big of a pivot, but rather it is just putting on glasses that help me see a bit more clearly. 3. Appear on more podcasts and provide more value overall - Ooof I haven't appeared on any podcasts this year yet... but I am finishing up my first book (about habits) and plan on appearing 20 podcasts here in Q2 (April-June)!I mentioned it in the episode but I should mention it here as well. Lately my laptop has not be

Overcoming Perfectionism For Good! (3 Tips) - #88
11/03/2021 Duración: 05minI believe that 2021 is truly my year to take my side hustles and other endeavors to the next level. One of the biggest traps I have fallen into recently that has kept me from doing as much is perfectionism. Here are my three quick tips to nip this struggle in the bud for good. 1. Remember Your Why Chances are that the why for what you are doing is to sit on your dreams and not do much about them. For one thing that is not an inspiring why and it does not really help you get up in the morning. On the other hand having a good why will help you when the perfectionism monster knocks on your door to waste your time.2. Remember Your JourneyRemember that to get the results you want it is going to take some time to the process and journey overall. I have been doing podcasting for nearly 2 years across 88 episodes and yet I still have not tapped into some of the most meaningful parts of my journey yet. Yep so I need to keep going. Time is going to keep moving along, and I need to move with it.3. Remember That You Get
