How to Bankrupt Your Happiness (3 Tips) - #86
05/03/2021 Duración: 10minObviously you wouldn't want to do these things... but yeah I thought it was worth the deep dive. As always I hope it was helpful. :)1. Be dishonest. I shared the story of Rita Crundwell and how she has lost all of her credibility from a mistake she made in her life. I also share reasons to not cheat in all aspects of life and how it only cheats you out of the progress you could have made.2. Don't care about your health. When you don't care about your health, it leads to all kinds of problems down the road. Choosing to stay up late one day to work on something won't destroy you, but if you do it over and over again it is really going to impact your overall performance.3. Sell yourself short on the things you do.If you are not on your own side, how do you expect yourself to achieve those big dreams you have?Support the show

3 Insane Gems From Playing the Long Game vs. the Short Game in Life - #82
19/02/2021 Duración: 18minToday we talked about playing the patient long game or being a bit less patient and thoughtful and the differences between each in these three categories:VisionRewards NetworkHere's the interview I did on the Run Your Day Podcast if you're interested! I really enjoyed being on his show: Run Your Day with Dan Hafner - Ep. 309: Dallin Candland - The Game You'll Never Win...When you work on the long game you get that long term vision. Looking ahead is wise and helps you keep going strong. When you work on the short game you have short term vision. This is good but it is not sustainable if you want to build something that will last - like momentum or continued growth.I am planning on stopping my little personal Thursday episodes after episode 100 come April. It is insane to me that we would be hitting that crazy number come April! For now I anticipate that this would be wise, especially if I want to continue to improve the podcastI could see myself having another podcast or something down the line but

Encouragement At Rock Bottom - 3 Reasons It's SO Powerful - #81
16/02/2021 Duración: 06minI have been struggling recently. I won't lie. For me words of encouragement have always gone a long way. One quote that has been on my mind is that 5 minutes of encouragement at rock bottom is worth more than 10 times that when you are in the spotlight. In this episode I dissected that and shared three reasons why I think that is the case.1. Timely - In your moment of struggle it is the main thing on your mind. In a week or two you will probably have something else to think about. Receiving encouragement shortly after the break down helps a lot in being able to channel those emotions towards something besides yourself. 2. Personal - The best encouragement I have received was specific and it helped me get a better idea of why I needed to keep going. When someone reaches out to you in your rough time and they know you well they can say words and do things that will truly help you to rise up again. 3. Lasting - In a few years you will probably be able to look back on this experience and remember exactly ho

3 Keys to Help You Live Up to Your Potential - #79
09/02/2021 Duración: 15minRecently I have been reading from the autobiography of John Stockton. His grandfather apparently was a great football player, but he was not as present at hone. There is a quote that I like that says that no other success can compensate for failure in the home. Not living up to your potential is one of the saddest things I can think of.“The saddest words of tongue and pen are these: it might have been.”Give back. You get to choose if you will be a fountain or a drain in your life. Will you see the glass as half-empty or half full? Those who make the time to give back and teach others often are the ones with the deepest insights and joys. The only way you will have something valuable to give is if you are continuously working on yourself.Personal Note: I think one of the best ways you can do this is by being thankful. You get to learn from your mistakes and try again! That is awesome!2. Consistent accountability. I think there are times where we force ourselves to be accountable to ourselves, like when we make a

Swimming Towards Success - 3 Tips From Florence Chidwick's Story - #78
04/02/2021 Duración: 10minIn the episode I mentioned that it was Elizabeth Chidwick... it was actually Florence Chidwick. I got her name wrong for the whole episode. Oops.In any case I think there is tons to learn from her story.1. Trust in your work and the efforts that got you here.So often we have put in the work necessary we just need to bounce off of that solid foundation that we have created.2. Have a team to help you out with doing great things. They don't even need to be running alongside you. Just that they are able to support you in some way helps a lot.3. Having a mental image can help you keep goingMake it clear and something you enjoy, perhaps like what Harry does to produce a Patronus in the Harry Potter series.More info on Florence Chidwick - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_ChadwickSupport the show

Before Your Puzzle of Life Comes Together.. (3 Exercises to Help You Stay Sane) - #77
02/02/2021 Duración: 16minThe last few days have been very instructive for me. They have demanded the best of me and mostly what I have seen was my weaknesses... Today I decided I was done with that. Here are 3 exercises to help you stay sane when you are still trying to figure out what is going on in your life. This is exactly what I have been doing and I feel like it has gotten me back into the driving seat of my life.1. Organize - Do what you can to make sense of things. Are you shooting at the right goal? Have you been playing your role well? What does success mean to you in this situation? If needed reevaluate your goals and put yourself back into the picture as someone who takes action and as the hero of your story. Trace back your steps to see why you may be feeling this way, and see what you can dig up. I spent about an hour outside in the cold today doing some deep thinking, and it helped me a lot with processing things and remembering who I am.2. Talk With Others - When I have not really known what to do talking with others

Thinking and Acting Like a Strong CEO For Your Life (Part 2) - #76
29/01/2021 Duración: 20minLately I have been very inspired with the idea of people starting their own companies and becoming a force for change in the world through those companies. Oftentimes though, the biggest changes start in the heart of the individual. In the last episode I talked about understanding this mindset and three things to help you get on the track with that (Attention/Rituals, Weekly Reviews, and Investments). Today we dive deeper together and I share some of the things that have helped me the most with making this a reality for my own life: Accountability, rules for success, and maximizing my free time.Enhancing Personal Accountability - This is often where it starts. If you are able to hold yourself accountable for your efforts you will learn so much more than those who do not own their learning and life opportunities.2. Rules (or Guideposts for your life) - These are so underrated it's insane. This semester I have some clear ground rules to help me stay on track and reach my goals. They have been immensely hel

Becoming a Strong CEO For Your Life (Part 1) - #75
26/01/2021 Duración: 16minRecently I have been doing a lot of reading in "Onward". It is all about the system that Starbucks had and how it was improved by the first CEO of the company. As the CEO he was able to make some decisions that helped push his company very forward in a relatively short period of time. He was taking ownership and responsibility for this thing.I should remind you that you are the CEO of your life. You are the one who handles the board of directors (those who you let be your closest associates in making decisions)You are the one who chooses the guiding principles (the why) for why you exist and what you stand for. Attention / Rituals - You need to have some sense of awareness and what is going on. Where you are you need to be there 100%. Staying self aware is key!"The unconscious leads to the conscious."Keep the ritual sacred2. Weekly Reviews and KPI's / Personal Inventory - KPI's are Key Performance Indicators. You should be aware of what you are hoping to accomplish at that time.

Three Stories About Desperation - #72
14/01/2021 Duración: 08minYou can learn SO much from desperation. For one thing, it helps you see what you truly value, take action, and feel things that might be difficult to feel! All the while though you need to trust your instincts and not lower your standards.I shared three stories where I may have been tempted to lower my standards or not trust my instincts but I did, and it worked out very well. This episode was also pretty funny! Hope you enjoy! :DStory 1: Getting locked out of my apartment after editing the podcast. Security guard told me I had ten minutes to finish up and I did in time! Then I got locked out of my apartment haha.Lesson: You do not want to get back to your apartment super late!Story 2: I was basically starving and hadn't eaten any food for about 40 hours. I was very focused on school and didn't have time or money to eat. Then one of my friends came to the rescue :)Story 3: Today I started recording the video for this podcast and my phone is at 1% now! This is because right now I am trying a new chal
