GMG - Dalvin Cook Holdout!
11/06/2020 Duración: 46minGood morning Horners! We all learned that Dalvin Cook is going to holdout for “reasonable” money. What is reasonable? Courtney Cronin reported that figure to be in excess of $16 million, and in the Christian McCaffrey range. Others have said, that Austin Eckler’s contract at around $8 million should be more realistic. The actual number probably falls in between. Good Morning Gjallarhorn’s newest guest, Ryan “Ryno” Johnson goes into the fact that if Cook skips training camp, that under the new collective bargaining agreement, he will not accrue the season, and instead of becoming a free agent next year, become a restricted free agent and most likely defeating any sort of leverage play that he’s trying to get a large payout from. Drew looks at how with the current situation, these virtual OTAs will impede the progress of needed rookies to develop and be ready for the season. The discussion of which positions need the most actual practice versus just looking at the playbook, zoom calls, and filming workouts to

Excited About Cameron Dantzler? - CTPN Quick Shots
27/05/2020 Duración: 16minIn this episode of Climbing The Pocket Network’s Quick Shots, we ask the question are you excited about Cameron Dantzler? Jason Brown of Climbing The Pocket gets together with Matt Fries, one of the network’s premier writers and scout to talk about the young cornerback. Dantzler played at Mississippi State and was nicknamed “the needle”. There is a reason for that, and it has to do with the 6’2” stature and the fact that he only weighs about 185 pounds. In the show, Matt talks about his strengths and weaknesses when it comes to playing. Talks about the situation of the corner room where the loss of MacKenzie Alexander and Trey Waynes along with Xavier Rhodes has left the Vikings short on veteran corners. Yes, we still have Mike Hughes, Holton Hill, and Chris Boyd, but with the drafting of Jeff Gladney and the focus of this show, Cameron Dantzler the Vikings look to take that next step and improve the secondary. What do you think of the pick? When do you think he’ll see action? Questions abound, including f

Kirk Cousins' Top 10 Throws in 2019 - CTPN Quick Shots
25/05/2020 Duración: 21minIn this episode of Climbing The Pocket Network’s Quick Shots I interview Nick Olson of the Pocket Protectors Podcast about Kirk Cousins’ top 10 throws of 2019. We count them down from number 10 all the way to number 1. Nick describes what is happening in each of these throws, and how difficult they actually are. To me they are nothing but an absolute thing of beauty. The question is can we expect more of the same in 2020? Yes, we know that Stefon Diggs has left the team, and only Adam Thielen remains as an established wide receiver, but we did add Justin Jefferson in the draft with his gaudy numbers last year in college hopefully translates to much of the same in the NFL. Kirk took a big step forward in 2019, and some of these throws in big pressure games show it. With Gary Kubiak returning, and this being the second season of basically his offense, do you expect Cousins success to continue? Nick goes on to tell us about things he has coming in the future with works on Justin Jefferson, Cameron Dantzler, Je

Climbing The Pocket: Episode 189 [Last Dance Part 1]
22/05/2020 Duración: 32minWe begin this episode getting caught up with the crew and how everyone is passing the time while the world is on lockdown. Myles and Yinka share opposing perspectives on quarantine driven by their personality types. Myles draws parallels between facemasks and seatbelts and Yinka hopes the world will find a way to come together as we face a common enemy in COVID-19. Jayson discusses how the of America reminds him of characters in Ozarks which prompts Yinka to remind everyone of how patriotic he is. The conversation then turns to the ESPN documentary, The Last Dance. Myles wonders how Jordan would have been accepted in our current media era. Myles points to Jordan's drinking, gambling, golfing, and cigar smoking as proof athletes can have other interests outside of sports and still be productive on the field or court. Jayson compares Lebron James to "Goliath" and says while Michael Jordan is the GOAT, Lebron James is probably a better basketball player. We wrap this episode with a discussion of the leader

Vikings O-Line improvement? Pt 2 - CTPN Quick Shots
20/05/2020 Duración: 15minThis is the second part of the episode of Climbing The Pocket Quick Shots, Jayson Brown sits down with two of the Climbing The Pocket Network’s film watching experts to talk Minnesota Vikings O-Line improvement. Tyler Forness and Matt Fries look in-depth at the skills and possibilities of all the offensive linemen that the Vikings acquired after taking Ezra Cleveland, like Blake Brandel from Oregon State, Kyle Hinton from the football power house of Washburn, and Brady Aiello from Oregon, their all purpose lineman. There are also the players still on the team that didn’t start last season like Dru Samia, Oli Udoh and Aviante Collins that figure into the new look of the line because we know there is at least one player at right guard, and at left, Pat Elflein will have to show a miraculous improvement to stay in the LG spot. Cleveland could start, Riley Reiff could move over, Garrett Bradbury and Brian O’Neill locked into their spots and a wide open competition at RG. Who will win it? Who will make the squad

Vikings O-Line improvement? - CTPN Quick Shots pt 1
19/05/2020 Duración: 13minIn this episode of Climbing The Pocket Quick Shots, Jayson Brown sits down with two of the Climbing The Pocket Network’s film watching experts. Tyler Forness and Matt Fries go over their opinions on what they saw with the Ezra Cleveland all 22 tape, and how they see him being utilized by the Vikings. Will he start, and what position? Those are but two of the questions they attempt to answer. Also, what will that starting offensive line actually look like? Matt and Tyler get into key traits of Ezra’s play, like his ability to do a jump set, how he uses his leverage, has good hand movement, and the ability to get downfield quickly. They go over his athletic ability is tested in the combine, and there are very few offensive lineman that come close to his athleticism. This all points to very good things in the future. E51: Pocket Protectors [Grading the 2020 Draft - NFC North Edition]
01/05/2020 Duración: 23minEric Eager from Pro Football Focus joined Jayson Brown to grade how the NFC North performed in the 2020 NFL Draft. Vikings and General Manager, Rick Spielman, did a remarkable job finding player and maneuvering the draft to increase value in 2020 and in future drafts. Eric called Rick’s performance “masterful” and said Rick drafted like his job was on the line. We then spent a bit of time mocking the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers for their head-scratching draft strategies before Eric laid out a case for why Detroit might be a dark horse team in the North if they can stay healthy. CTPN Quick Shots - Should the Vikings Start Ezra Cleveland at LT?
29/04/2020 Duración: 09minShould the Vikings start Ezra Cleveland at left tackle from the beginning? The Climbing The Pocket Network is starting a new feature called Quick Shots. The hope is to have those quick strike, short videos and podcasts that talk about some of the latest issues and topics surrounding your Minnesota Vikings. We hope to answer a question of the day, or at least get you thinking about one. Dave, from Good Morning Gjallarhorn addresses the question. A big proponent of starting him. Brian O’Neill started his first season and never looked back. Dave brings evidence as provided by friend of the show, Mike Renner from PFF. Back in early March, Mike gave his opinion on Ezra Cleveland’s play and performance at the NFL Combine. You can catch Mike’s show at https://youtu.be/vv-FiE49gsA There are basically 4 options the Vikings could consider. Option 1: Start Riley Reiff at LT and put Cleveland at LG. Option 2: Start Cleveland at LT and slide Reiff into LG. Option 3: Groom Cleveland as the swing tackle, a spot held
