Vikings vs Redskins… Good morning Horners! Enjoy the win, Baby! Your Minnesota Vikings are now 6-2 at the halfway point of the season. After an emotional game, the Good Morning Gjallarhorn crew recorded their post game reactions. Tighten those seat belts for this wild ride as Dave, Ted and Drew go at it over the Vikings performance. It is funny how people see the same game differently. A win is a win, getting the Vikes to 6-2, and as Ted asked, “who would have thought that after the Bears game?” The Washington Redskins came to US Bank Stadium and put up quite the effort, but failed against Minnesota Vikings at home. The final score was a Vikes victory of 19-9. A “W” is a “W” and the Vikings will take it.   Do you think Kirk Cousins regressed a bit? As the Washington Redskins come into US Bank Stadium to take on your Minnesota Vikings, there is the former team motivation of Kirk Cousins, Case Keenum and Adrian Peterson, the Mike Zimmer being upset with his defensive play but loving the offense, and that lurking hangover of last season’s Buffalo Bills trap game results. None of us want to see that and Ted explains why we won’t, even if Adam Thielen is resting and not playing.  On this short week, the team with the best talent usually wins and that means the Vikings. Vikings vs Lions… Good morning Horners! Here is your Good Morning Gjallarhorn Preview Show. The Minnesota Vikings travel to battle the Detroit Lions for a noon central NFC North division contest. Both teams are 0-2 in the division and even though the outcome of the game may not preclude making the playoffs, it definitely make winning the less likely. That is why this game is important.  Kirk Cousins has come off two very good performances vs the Giants and Eagles where he has thrown for over 300 yards and cotton Stefon Diggs involved and producing. Will that continue? This game lines up to favor Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison and the run game with the Lions defense being the weakest against the run, but through previous action, the Honolulu Blue has also given up pass production. This game is looking to be one of those almost perfect splits between run and pass unless the Vikings jump out by 21 points. Vikings vs Eagles… Good morning Horners! What a game! Way to start your victory week with the sound win over the Philadelphia Eagles. 38-10 was the final score where the Vikings jumped out aggressively early and even though the Eagles fought back, the Vikes snatched all the momentum back with a stiff 82 yard drive and score. That’s what we love to see as fans and at Good Morning Gjallarhorn.   Kirk Cousins was on FIRE! 22 of 29 for 333 yards and 4 TDs. He had one interception that was not his fault, but is playing like we hoped he would. Is he possessed by aliens? The truth is out there, but we don’t care. Just keep this up, and as Ted Glover says, “we have a really good football team.” Stefon Diggs had a day too, by catching 3 of those touchdowns and amassing 167 yards. Against the Eagles’ interior 7 led by Fletcher Cox that was #1 against the run, Alexander Mattison, Dalvin Cook and even Stefon Diggs amassed 122 yards. The game is being played at US Bank Stadium, home of the most influential fans in the NFL.  The guys talk about the relative even overall matchup of the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles, and how important the fans in the stands will be to get inside the head of Carson Wentz and help the vaunted Mike Zimmer defense.   Looking at the Eagles, their defensive front 7 is brutal against the run, #1 versus it in fact so far this 2019 season. Vikings vs Giants… Good morning Horners! What a great way to start the week! Your Minnesota Vikings traveled to MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands of NJ to defeat soundly the New York Giants 28-10.In a very aggressive play calling day on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, the Vikes did what they should for the most part, and as Ted said, “scored 28 points the hard way.” Two touchdowns, four field goals, and a safety combined to make the game pleasurable to watch.   Starting with the the offense, Kirk Cousins had a very good day going 22/27 with 2 TD throws and 306 yards, Adam Thielen catching both of those TDs in his 130 yard effort. Dalvin Cook got back into his high production gear again due to the offensive line probably having their best day yet. What a visible difference Josh Kline made after returning from a concussion suffered two weeks ago. He helped lead a good blocking effort that contributed to Cousins only being sacked 3 times [at east one of those holding onto the ball too long],

Vikings vs Giants… Good morning Horners! Oh, what a week we’ve had as fans! The GMG gang sat down to discuss it, from the reasons why Kirk Cousins prefers to throw the 4 yard check down to CJ Ham over launching it to an open receiver downfield, to one of the said receivers, Stefon Diggs starting to get his diva on. Ted explained that in pretty much a sane matter [he wrote about it too] and asked you, how would you feel?   Mike Zimmer leads the squad into Metlife Stadium in New Jersey to play the NY Giants this week in what should be a crucial game to the organization. “Crucial for  game 5” you ask? Yes, because of the hot and cold play of the team starting out 2-2. The record isn’t terrible, nor is it not recoverable, but it is how the Vikings played on the road that needs to change if the team wants to make a run into the playoffs at the end of the season. Vikings versus Bears… Good morning Horners! Well, maybe not so good. In a game where Mitch Trubisky was injured and backup quarterback Chase Daniels looked better than Kirk Cousins, the Vikings came in flat. When the team plays cold, it leads to one person… Mike Zimmer. Oh, there is blame all around in this one from the offseason moves that did or didn’t happen, the coaching on both sides of the ball, and QB that looks like he should be a backup yet is getting a guaranteed $84 million, and a decent defense that for a third game in a row let the Bears score on their opening drive. This was an absolutely frustrating game to watch as a Vikings fan and Ted, Drew and Dave felt it.   The offensive line in combination with the statuesque play by Cousins gave up 6 sacks on the day and 2 fumbles lost. The running game looked ineffective, but that was anticipated against such a good defense, but there was hope Akiem Hicks, Roquan Smith and Bilal Nichols were out. That hope quickly diminished as the Vikings only generat

Vikings versus Bears… Good morning Horners! Ted, Drew and Dave have assembled to discuss today’s game in Soldier Field against the Bears. In what can sometimes be like a house of horrors with weird stuff that always seems to happen, maybe even an alien burial ground as Ted hypothesized with Giorgio Tsoukalos a few years back. Two of the better defenses in the league will do battle to see who can shut down the opposing offense better. Which one can cause the other’s quarterback to make the most mistakes. Will it be Kirk Cousins or Mitch Trubisky that does just enough to help lead their squad to victory, or will they be the ones directly contributing to this all important NFC North Division loss? With the Packers losing Thursday and the Lions playing the Chiefs, the North looks to be wide open for the taking, and the winner of this game will definitely have an early season advantage on it.
