FMF 301 | For The North
12/09/2019 Duración: 14minOur Minnesota Vikings played a great game against Atlanta in Week 1. But we didn't see everything we needed to for full buy-in. Week 2 could change all that. They just need to win against Green Bay. Here's how the injury report looks: Stefon Diggs is back in full health, but Anthony may have a knee issue. Mackensie Alexander and Pat Elflein both missed Wednesday's practice. They should be monitored this week. Mike Hughes was limited, which is encouraging. It's good to have Brett Jones back and I see early optimism for Irv Smith Jr. Key players in Week 2: - Dalvin Cook showed all the promise in Week 1, and he'll need to factor into the passing game too, with Blake Martinez covering him. - Kyle Rudolph didn't do much against Atlanta. Can he win, going against the strong Adrian Amos? - Anthony Harris flashed again and brings a new element to the Minnesota defense. We can focus on how he plays, battling Green Bay's Jimmy Graham. - Trae Waynes quietly had a bad coverage game at US Bank Stadium. Let's hope Marques

GMG ep 62 - Vikings Kicking Situation
08/09/2019 Duración: 05minGood morning Horners! The Vikings kicking situation has caused heartburn for many fans. GMG’s Dave and Drew talk about it. Going into the game against the Atlanta Falcons the kicker competition is settled for at least now. Kare Vedvik is gone and that experiment cost a future 5th round pick. Of course he was picked up by the New York Jets and promptly makes a 69 yarder. Oy! Dan Bailey has secured his second season with the Vikings after a season only hitting 75% of his field goal attempts. Daniel Carlson was fired after the second game at Green Bay in 2018 and moved to the Oakland Raiders where he has hit virtually all of his kicks. There is something under the Mike Zimmer time as head coach that has affected the kickers. Theories fly about how they are dealt with and their strength of their psyches. Kickers in the Zimmer era include: Dan Bailey, Daniel Carlson, Kai Forbath, and Blair Walsh. Punters include: Matt Wile, Ryan Quigley, and Jeff Locke. Also the Vedvik experiment at both positions. FMF 207 | Peak Performers
04/09/2019 Duración: 20minThe Vikings 2019 53-man roster was born from competition. The coaches gave youngsters a real chance to make this team, and if no one stepped up, no one made the cut. That's why Minnesota went thin at WR before picking up Josh Doctson. That's why the front office cut both Kaare Vedvik and Matt Wile in favor of Britton Colquitt. On the podcast I talk about all the competition, and the results. I discuss what we can expect from Josh Doctson this year and the latest chapter in the Vikings Specialist Saga. Then we dive into the PLUS matchups. Three Star Vikings have the opportunity to start the 2019 season with a bang. Adam Thielen has a series of winnable matchups against cornerbacks who are still relatively raw: Desmond Trufant, Jaire Alexander, Gareon Conley and Kyle Fuller. Can he replicate that 8-game streak where he gained 100 yards? Can he climb even further up our loaded history of star wide receivers? Dalvin Cook at 100% could be the main difference between 2018 and 2019. He glimpsed just a little in th

Skoldiers - 054 - NFC North Review
31/08/2019 Duración: 01h25minDetroit Lions Off-season Review: Will losing Ziggy Ansah and Kerry Hyder matter? Can the additions of Trey Flowers, Justin Coleman, and Mike Daniels propel the Lions' defense to new heights? Will TJ Hockenson, Danny Amendola, Jesse James, and CJ Anderson revitalize a stagnant offense? Is year 2 under Matt Patricia the year everything comes together for a playoff push? Chicago Bears Off-season Review: Will losing Bryce Callahan and Adrian Amos, the QB of the defense, make a difference? Can HaHa Clinton-Dix, and Buster Skrine step up? Can Chuck Pagano replace Vic Fangio and retain similar defensive success from 2018? Can David Montgomery replace Jordan Howard? Will Trubisky prove his doubters wrong, or was he helped tremendously from a great defense in 2018? Green Bay Packers Off-season Review: With so much turnover on defense (Losing HaHa Clinton-Dix, Clay Matthews, Nick Perry, Muhammad Wilkerson, Mike Daniels), can Green Bay see significant success defensively? Will their additions in Rashan Gary, Darnell Sav

FMF 206 | Tough Sledding
29/08/2019 Duración: 16minThe Minnesota Vikings look healthy. So far so good as we head into the fourth preseason game on Thursday and find out who's going to survive roster cuts on Friday. Flipmazzi goes further, Looking all the way to week 4. Detailing which Vikings have the most challenging matchups during the first quarter of the 2019 NFL Season. Minnesota plays versus Atlanta, at Green Bay, versus Oakland and at Chicago to start the year. Those teams feature formidable defensive fronts to challenge Garrett Bradbury. He'll go against Grady Jarrett, Kenny Clark, Maurice Hurst and Akiem Hicks. The purple's opponents can cover the top too. Keanu Neal, Adrian Amos, Karl Joseph and Eddie Jackson will make an impact. Will Kyle Rudolph factor into the first four games? Linval Joseph silently moved through the offseason and preseason. Lets hope he starts to make some noise in September. Alex Mack, Corey Linsley, Rodney Hudson and Cody Whitehair shut down most defensive tackles. Finally the best matchups are WR vs CB and we have great ones

Skoldiers - 053 - Cardinal Sins
26/08/2019 Duración: 47minMinnesota Vikings beat the Arizona Cardinals 20-9, but first a quick recap around the league: Andrew Luck retires at 29, and the colts allow him to keep bonus money. Lamar Miller goes down for the season with an ACL injury. Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers preseason game reduced to 80-yard field because of safety concerns. The Vikings somehow unsuccessfully challenged a fumble (stadium angle was perfect). Off game for the offense in general, flow seemed to lack. Olabisi Johnson is looking like the WR3 of the roster, and a lock on the 53. Pass protection continued to struggle, but maybe not all the line's fault. Mike Boone continues to string nice games together, what does it mean for the final 53? Kyle Sloter has another nice outing, is he QB2? Xavier Rhodes looked poor in the snaps he saw, is it overreacting to be concerned? Jayron Kearse and Mackenzie Alexander have several splash plays... again. Mike Hughes still waiting in the wings, does he get PUPed? What the heck is going on with the kicking? Satu

Skoldiers - 052 - NFC Preview
25/08/2019 Duración: 01h01sNFC East - Where do the Cowboys stand with Zeke Elliott / Dak Prescott situations? Can Carson Wentz stay healthy, as the backup QB situation for the Philadelphia Eagles is a mess. The New York Giants lost several key pieces in Landon Collins, Odell Beckham Jr. Olivier Vernon, can Danial Jones and Saquon Barkley carry the team? Washington's quarterback room is a mess and a half, but Adrian Peterson is in the best shape of his life. NFC West - Arizona Cardinals got their guy in Kylar Murray, what kind of magic can they produce? The Los Angeles Rams rotated some players, losing Lamarcus Joyner & Ndamukong Suh, and adding Eric Weddle & Clay Matthews, is it enough to keep pace? The Seattle Seahawks lose Frank Clark, but gain Ziggy Ansah, and add DK Metcalf, are they a division contender? Will the San Francisco 49ers stay healthy enough, and get a big enough boost with Dee Ford to fight in a tough NFC West? NFC South - Can the Atlanta Falcons stay health and return to superbowl contender form? Are the Carol

FMF 205 | Zimmer's Youth
14/08/2019 Duración: 17minAfter covering the offense last week, Flipmazzi turns his attention to the defense: The craziness of Antonio Brown and the second episode of Hard Knocks Why is Kaare Vedvik here? We should be sick of all the regression talk circling Mike Zimmer's defense. Youth is always where the Zim Reapers have found their edge. Anthony Barr, Xavier Rhodes, Danielle Hunter and Trae Waynes are great examples. Anthony Harris arrived last year after glimpses of solid play in his four year career. Stephen Weatherly gave Minnesota a needed lift in Everson Griffen's absence. Eric Wilson played in a bunch of games last year and the dropoff between him and Eric Kendricks is shrinking. Mackensie Alexander, a lot of people gave up on him, but now he solidifies the cornerback group. Zimmer's staff develops these guys again and again and again. And if you want to bet against the unproven youth in 2019, have fun! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
