The Kingdom of God is an ongoing theme of the Gospels — the four biographies of Jesus’ life. Jesus taught about it regularly. And while some mistake it as just a reference to a future reality, still others miss its present purpose. Those familiar words — Your kingdom come — came through Jesus as he taught His apostles what we today call the Lord’s Prayer. And the stories of Jesus’ life preserved for us in Scripture declare how God’s kingdom comes to be, how He establishes His reign through Jesus, and how we today are to go about living as its citizens.
