The book of Psalms is a collection of poems, songs, and prayers from different periods of Israel’s history. With themes of faith, hope, and the coming Messiah, the Psalms provide us with a kind of prayer primer. Through words of lament and praise, they help us to know God and to pray to Him through the varied experiences of our lives and the world around us. They connect our head and our heart to the Creator of our soul.
