The 10,000 hour rule (as written by Malcolm Gladwell) is not quite enough to become an expert. There are “4 things it takes to be an expert”, according to a YouTube personality. 1. REPEATED ATTEMPTS WITH FEEDBACK. EXAMPLE: A tennis player must have immediate feedback to become great or good. NOTE: Be weary of experts who don’t have repeated theory through feedback. 2. VALID ENVIRONMENT 3. REPEATED EXPERIENCES 4. TIMELY FEEDBACK After doing all of these things, do we then become an EXPERT? Unfortunately NO! We have a tendency to like being comfortable. Don’t get comfortable - learn to be uncomfortable. Deliberate practice is important and attempting things you can’t do quite yet.
