As we reflect on the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, we are confronted with the reality of our own sinfulness and the immense sacrifice that was made for our salvation. In Matthew 27:45-50, we see the darkness that covered the land, the cry of abandonment from Jesus, and His final breath as He gave up His spirit. This scene should not only move us to tears but also to action. We must recognize the gravity of our sin and the weight of the sacrifice that was made on our behalf. The death of Jesus was not in vain, but rather it was the ultimate act of love that calls for our response. Jesus' death on the cross was the ultimate act of love because, as it is written in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Jesus willingly sacrificed Himself for the salvation of humanity, out of love for us. As it is written in Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners
