Fr Tony Percy says that the opening prayer to this solemnity is a magnificent summary of this celebration. The first part is a memorial, God himself remembering the Lord's passion. Next the prayer is the revering the sacred mystery of Christ himself. Then we pray that we may experience the fruits of the redemption.
