EPA Finds West Clare River "In Bad Condition" Due To Run-Off And Wastewater Treatment

Informações:

Sinopsis

A West Clare river has been deemed to be in "bad condition" due to agricultural run-off and wastewater treatment. The Environmental Protection Agency's new report on water quality in rivers and lakes across the country last year has found that increased nutrient pollution means water quality here isn't improving. The Annagh River in West Clare is one of four river water bodies reported as in bad condition along with the River Laune in Kerry, Ahavarraga Stream in Limerick and the Nenagh River in Tipperary. Scientific Officer in the EPA's Water Management Programme Hugh Feeley has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons that while farmers must do their bit to prevent run-off, more action is needed from central government.
