Originally developed as an outdoor shopping destination, which opened in 2000, The Gateway has experienced a dramatic transformation since Arizona-based developer Vestar purchased the property in 2016. General Manager Bryan Hill shares more. Bryan Hill: Since Vestar purchased The Gateway, $100 million has been invested to upgrade and revitalize the development, ultimately transitioning from a shopping center to a lifestyle destination in Salt Lake City. It has become known as a thriving hub of retail, dining, entertainment, business, and arts and culture. It also serves as an integrated campus for some of Utah’s most innovative life sciences companies, as well as Kiln, a coworking space with multiple locations in the West. The Gateway is committed to being a central gathering place by hosting more than 200 community events and cultural celebrations annually.
