Mother Hilda’s story of how she did not meet her own expectation to respond as Jesus would to a visitor, an omission that filled me with shame, as I recognized Christ in him but did not respond as I should have. This encounter reminded me that Christ continually offers us opportunities to meet him anew, holding out his hand again and again in hope.
