Session 36 The Prophecy of the Reign of Imam Mu'aawiyah (ra) When the sword is placed in my Ummah it will then not be withdrawn till lhe Last Hour (Tirmidhi). A rebellious group (ie the Khwaarij) will emerge at a time of dissent amongst the Muslims, and it will be destroved by the closer of the two groups to the Truth, (Muslim). Imam Nawawee (rah) commented, "This is a declaration that both parties are Believers and fighting each other does not cancel their Faith - and, indeed, they should not (even) be called impious" (Sharh Saheeh Muslim). Hadrat Alee (ra) said of Hadrat Mu'aawiyah (ra) (on his return from the Battle of Siffeen), "O People! Do not disapprove of Mu'aawiyah(ra) Governorship, for verily if you lose (then) you will witness heads falling from their shoulders just as the fruits of the wild gourd tree breaks and falls down (Al Bidayya).
