Failing the LORD’s test, David sinfully decrees a census of the warriors in Israel. Upon being struck by the condemnation of the Law, David confesses his sin and places himself in the hands of the LORD, who brings a three-day pestilence against Israel. David pleads for mercy upon the people, and Gad the prophet brings God’s Word to David to buy the threshing floor where the LORD stopped His pestilence.
