Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S14) The Great Uncle, Urwah رضي الله عنه Al-Mugheera’s great uncle, Urwah Ibn Masood (رضي الله عنهم) embraced Islam in 9 A.H, after the siege of Ta’if and before The Messenger ﷺ returned to Madinah. Mugheera رضي الله عنه was overjoyed, and hosted his uncle - Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه also wanted to host him. After a period of time, Urwah رضي الله عنه asked The Messenger ﷺ if he could return back to his people, to which The Messenger ﷺ didn’t approve of: “I fear they will kill you” - The Messenger ﷺ experienced this treatment himself with the Quraysh. Ultimately Urwah رضي الله عنه returned. He was loved by his people, more beloved to them than their own children. When his people discovered his faith, they cursed and beat him. Later on, Urwah had the honour of giving the first Azhan ever in Ta’if!
