The Wry Guard, Session 12 Al Mugheerah ibn Shu'uba (ra). Khuff- footwear Abu Bakr (ra) leads the Asr prayer. 'In Arabic "khuff"' refers to shoes that cover the entire foot including the ankle. Since khuff is translated as "leather socks" these days, people then confuse them with today's regular socks and, therefore, consider it permissible to wipe over them as well- (however) it is very clear from studying the Ahaadeeth that khuff were not socks, but rather shoe (i.e footwear used to walk with).
