Kilmurry based Fianna Fáil Councillor Alan O’Callaghan’s term as Mayor of Clare comes to an end today (Friday). The Mayoral chains are set to be handed over to Clarecastle Fine Gael Cllr Paul Murphy, who’ll become the first Magpie to hold the office. For Cllr O’Callaghan it was a year that started with a bang, with one of his first official functions welcoming home the All-Ireland Champions, all going well Cllr Murphy will get to do the same for Clare’s Minor side after this weekend. However, Alan O’Callaghan also witnessed the opening of the historic Shannon Bridge Crossing, hosted a number of civic receptions and as per tradition represented Clare in New York for St.Patrick’s Day.
