A Clare Economist is warning we shouldn't expect any "giveaway budget" this year. Ahead of Budget 2026 next month, the Government has already ruled out one off supports such as electricity credits, social welfare and child benefit lump sums. The latest exchequer returns, meanwhile, show while income tax and VAT receipts increased, corporate tax takings fell by 43% last month.
