A chilling snapshot of democracy under fire— a new report from Coimisiún na Meán has laid bare the scale of online abuse targeting election candidates in Ireland. From death threats to intimidation and smear campaigns, the findings reveal a disturbing trend: nearly half of local election hopefuls and a staggering six in ten general election candidates who took part in the study say they’ve faced threatening or offensive behaviour online.
