Richard was born in Dublin in the 7Os, not far from where he practices now. He grew up in the inner city and his journey and career in dentistry has travelled a million miles over the years. He graduated dental training in 1995, spent a period of time in hospital training in the UK, then returned to private practice. Never satisfied, he decided to make the biggest decision of his life and return to college as a mature student, while running a busy practice at the same time. His full-time three year post graduate periodontal training in the dental hospital in periodontology was completed in 2010. His particular research during that time focused on nano-surface implant technology and bone augmentation materials, funded by 3I Biomet Zimmer, the US company based in Florida .   He now holds a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (Periodontology) and a diploma from the European Federation of Periodontology and established the Mint Clinic in 2012 where his practice is limited to periodontology and dental implantology.
