Today I want to talk to you about the cave of distress. Both Elijah and David found themselves here, and then the Lord brought them out. These stories in the Word reveal to us God’s pattern for release, freedom from the wearing of distress. 1 Kings 19:8-9 (NKJV), So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God. And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the LORD [came] to him, and He said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" Elijah is frustrated, weary, discouraged, things didn’t work the way he imagined. He’s alone, falsely accused, treated unfairly. Just before this trip he asked the Lord to take his life. Done.
