As Kavaneet points out, much of the projected population growth over the next 50 years will occur in sub-Saharan Africa. This combined with the fact that approximately 50% of the world's unused, arable land is in Africa - vastly improving yield will be a necessity to feed the next generation. For food news, Leigh-Ann mentions a study by Tetra Pak, a packaging organization, stating that smart packaging technology such as a unique digital code will help boost grocery sales on and offline due to the increased intimacy in how the consumer interacts with your brand.
