Multiple Sclerosis, or “MS”, is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, or brain and spinal cord. MS is caused by damage to the myelin sheath, which is the protective covering that surrounds nerve cells. When the myelin sheath is damaged, nerve signals are slowed down or may even stop.
