Sure, you think your mom is pretty bad-a. But my grandma, my Nan, has got you beat. In this week’s episode I share the story of my grandma, my Nan, and how she helped shape and change the life of this young girl forever. My Nan was and is like a mom to me. Having a heavy hand in raising me and never giving up her grip over my life, she has guided me, course-corrected me, and even set me back on the right track more than a couple times in my life, her NY accented voice still ringing in my ears! She is now bed ridden and has suffered from crippling dementia for the last six years, but was she ever a spit-fire, a firecracker, the first strong, independent woman I ever looked up to. This one is for you Nan! And for all you survivors out there, struggling alongside a loved one with dementia…Don’t put on a brave face, go and be brave.
