The chapters we’re going to look at over the next 6 weeks are going to be helpful to lead us towards Christmas because 2 Samuel is a mirror in which we see Jesus.When David is strong and faithful and victorious, he prefigures the strength and faithfulness and victory of Jesus. When David is selfish and faithless, we feel the need for a better king – the kind we see in Jesus. And sometimes, when David is weak and beset by troubles, we see the suffering of Jesus, the Good Shepherd who died for his people.
